아사카와 노리타카(淺川伯敎)와 야나기 무네요시(柳宗悅)를 통해 본 일제 강점 중반의 한국 도자연구 동향

국문 초록

본 논문은 일제강점기 일본의 대표적인 공예이론가였던 아사카와 노리타카와 야나기 무네요시가 추진한 전라남도 곡성군 하한리 가마터의 조사연구를 분석한 글이다. 한국 도자연구와 도자유물 발굴의 일환으로서 전국의 주요 가마터들이 조선총독부와 이왕직(李王職)에 의해 조사, 연구되는 가운데, 이들은 특별히 지방요를 순회하며 특유의 가마 운용방식과 생산품들의 특징을 파악하였다. 이러한 행보의 직접적인 계기는 일본에서 시작된 민예의 열풍을 조선에도 이식하고, 이를 조선의 친화적이고 자연스러운 민예미(民藝美)로 간주한 것에서 비롯되었다. 당대 지방요 실정을 파악하는데 많은 한계가 있고 현전하는 유물이 부재한 가운데 이들의 연구성과와 구체적인 기록들은 일개 지방의 요업실정을 파악하는 차원을 넘어 근대 요업의 전통성 유지와 그 맥락을 이해하는데 주요한 근거를 제공하고 있다. 특히 2021년 (재)민족문화유산연구원에서 진행한 지표조사를 토대로 하여 향후 이 일대 가마군의 전면적인 발굴조사가 진행된다면, 일제 강점 당시의 하한리 요업실태는 물론 지방요의 운용에 따른 다양한 시각을 도출할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

This thesis is an analysis of the research on the kiln site of Hahanri, Gokseonggun, Jeollanamdo, conducted by Asakawa Noritaka and Yanagi Muneyoshi, who were representative craft theorists in Japan during the Japanese colonial period. As part of Korean ceramics research and excavation of ceramic artifacts, major kiln sites across the country are being investigated and studied by the Government-General of Korea and LeeWangjik, They especially toured the local kiln sites and grasped the unique kiln operation method and characteristics of products. This direct trigger came from the fact that the folk craft fever that started in Japan was transplanted to Joseon and regarded as the friendly and natural beauty of folk crafts of Joseon. While there are many limitations in understanding the current situation of local ceramics and the absence of existing relics, their research results and specific records provide a major basis for understanding the current situation of local ceramics and the maintenance and context of modern ceramics. In particular, if a comprehensive excavation survey of the kilns in this area is carried out in the future based on the surface survey conducted by the National Cultural Heritage Research Institute in 2020, It is expected that it will be possible to derive various perspectives according to the operation of local songs as well as the actual situation of Hahanri's ceramics during the Japanese colonial period.
