청소년 자치배움터의 지역사회 중심 미술교육이 학생들의 학교문화와 삶에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 인천 청소년 자치배움터 은하수학교의 예술 프로젝트를 중심으로 지역사회 중심 미술교육이 어떻게 이루어지는지 그리고 은하수학교만의 학교문화가 형성되는 과정과 특징, 학생들에게 미치는 영향을 탐구하고자 하였다. 연구 방법은 지역사회협력 청소년 자치배움터의 학교문화와 지역사회 중심 미술교육을 연구하기 위해 예술 프로젝트의 일원으로 참여하여 문화기술적 사례연구(ethnographic case study)를 적용하였다. 연구 대상은 은하수학교 예술 프로젝트 중 하나인 ‘스페이스팀’을 주된 연구 참여팀으로 선정하였다. 은하수학교의 학교문화를 연구하기 위해 스페이스팀의 공간 프로젝트와 청소년자치회, 길잡이교사회, 성장나눔회 등을 참여관찰하였고, 연구 참여자 11명을 대상으로 심층면담을 진행하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 청소년 자치배움터의 지역사회 중심 미술교육은 학습자의 삶의 맥락에서 시작하여 다른 프로젝트팀과 협업하며 지역사회 및 은하수학교 공동체의 장소 정체성을 찾아갔다. 은하수학교에는 존중하는 문화, 학생 주도 자치, 과정 중심, 연대의 문화가 형성되어 있었고 이러한 학교문화는 청소년들에게 주인의식과 문제해결력, 책임감 및 리더십, 자신감과 도전정신, 의사소통능력, 갈등해결능력, 교우관계, 사회성, 협업 능력 향상에 영향을 끼쳤다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the process, characteristics, and effects of community-based art education in the Eunhasu School, a youth autonomous learning center in Incheon. The study found that community-based art education begins by understanding the learners' lives and collaborating with other project teams to identify the community's identity. The study identified four school cultures being formed in the Eunhasu School. The first was a culture of respect, which was established through the circle process and resulted in adolescents internalizing the value of respect, respecting others elsewhere, and improving their self-esteem by being accepted for who they are. The second culture was student autonomy, which actively influenced adolescents to improve their sense of ownership, problem-solving skills, responsibility, and leadership. The third culture was process-oriented learning, which aimed to restore the subjectivity and value of learning. Through this approach, adolescents gained confidence, a spirit of challenge, and recognized the Eunhasu community as a safe space to find joy in learning. Finally, the fourth culture was solidarity in various fields, which allowed adolescents to expand their understanding of humans by meeting with members beyond age and occupation. Overall, the study demonstrated the positive effects of community-based art education on the school culture and the personal growth of adolescents in the Eunhasu School.
