이중초점 콘택트렌즈의 근시 진행 억제 효과

국문 초록

최근 전 세계적으로 근시의 유병률이 증가하고 있고, 특히 한국을 포함한 아시아 지역에서 그 유병률이 매우 높게 보고되고 있다. 근시는 수정체, 망막, 시신경 등에 다른 질환을 유발할 수 있으며, 근시의 진행을 억제하기 위한 다양한 방법들이 시도되고 있으나현재까지 그 효과나 기전이 명확하게 밝혀진 치료법은 없다. 이중초점 콘택트렌즈는 렌즈의 중심부터 동심원 형태로 다른 도수의영역을 교차 배열하여, 근시를 교정하여 좋은 원거리 시력을 갖게끔 해주는 동시에 망막의 주변부에 근시성 탈초점화를 유발하여안축장이 확장되는 것을 지연시킬 수 있다고 알려져 있다. 본고를 통해 소아에서 이중초점 콘택트렌즈가 근시의 진행에 미치는 효과및 안전성을 알아보고자 한다.

영문 초록

The prevalence of myopia is increasing, and is particularly high in Asia, including Korea. The myopia is associated with serious ocular complications such as cataract, glaucoma, and retinal detachment. There have been several studies to control progression of myopia using optical or medical treatment. Among them, MiSight® has been clinically proven and approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to control the progression of myopia in children. MiSight® is a dual-focus contact lens containing a large central correction zones to correct refractive error and concentric zones of alternating distance and near powers to produce myopic retinal defocus. In this paper, I reviewed the optical design of dual-focus contact lens, and the results of several clinical studies that showed efficacy and safety of dual-focus contact lens on the progression of myopia is investigated.
