보호대상자들의 심리건강실태에 대한 고찰: 심층면접 기법을 바탕으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 보호대상자들이 출소 이후 사회적응 과정에서 경험하게 되는 다양한 심리·사회적 스트레스들에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국법무보호복지공단생활관에 거주하고 있는 보호대상자 12명을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하였다. 대상자별 인터뷰 시간은 평균 33.3분이었으며, 녹취에 대한 동의를 얻어 녹음된 자료를전사하여 개방 코딩(open coding) 및 축 코딩(axial coding) 방식으로 데이터를 정리하였다. 자료 분석 결과, 대상자들은 가족을 비롯한 사회 지지체계가 매우 열악한상태였으며, 우울 및 무망감을 비롯한 정서적인 문제들이 많아 보였다. 또한 이러한부정적인 정서들을 적절한 방식으로 다루지 못한 채 주로 억제하고 있는 것으로 보였으며, 음주 후 억제된 부정적 정서들이 폭발적인 양상으로 표출되어 문제행동이반복되는 악순환이 확인되었다. 충동성이나 반사회성의 문제들은 두드러지지 않았으나, 이러한 결과는 이들이 자신의 정서에 대한 이해나 인식 능력이 부족한 것과 연관지어 생각해볼 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다. 사회복귀와 관련된 의지와 주변의 시선에 대한 두려움을 동시에 가지고 있어 사회복귀에 대한 어려움을 호소하였으나, 이를 극복하기 위한 구체적인 계획은 부족해 보였다. 현재까지 보호대상자들의 심리건강에 대한 국내 연구가 부족한 실정이며, 이에 대한 체계적인 데이터 역시 미비한 실정이다. 본 연구는 보호대상자들의 사회복귀와밀접한 관계가 있는 심리건강실태에 대한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있으며, 추후 연구방향에 대한 제시를 하는 데 유용한 자료가 될 것이다.

영문 초록

This study, we'd like to find out the released convicts’ psychological and social stress that they experience the time when they try to adapt to a society after releasing from prison. We interviewed 12 subjects for protections who have lived in Dormitory of Korea Rehabilitation Agency with the depth interview process. Average interview time was 33. 3 min. per person. And we've got the agreement for the recording from them and we've arranged the data with the open coding and axial coding. As the result of data analysis, all the subjects have been suffered very poor social and familial support and they have lots of emotional problems as well as depression and hopelessness. Also, they just have suppressed these negative emotions instead of resolving them in proper ways. And after drinking, they express these suppressed feelings in a explosive way and it has been repeated viciously. Impulsion or antisocial problems were not remarkable. But we judge that the results are associated to the lack of their understanding or awareness of their emotions. They want to return to the normal life but also they're afraid of public gaze. So they say it's difficult to return to the society they were in. However it seem that their plan to overcome their problems are insufficient. Until now, it is insufficient the local study for the subjects for released convicts’psychological health and its systematic data is insufficient, too. This study can be the basic materials for the subjects for released convicts’ actual condition of psychological health which are bound up with their return to the society and it will show the follow-up way to the similar cases.
