국문 초록

부닌의 작품 세계를 규명할 수 있는 핵심 개념으로는 농촌, 러시아, 동양 및 불교, 기억, 사랑, 여성, 죽음 등 꽤나 다양하다. 특히 러시아, 동양, 기억, 사랑, 죽음 등은 부닌의 문학 전반을 아우르며 관통하는 핵심 개념이다. 특히 죽음의 테마는 부닌의 창작에서 다채로운 방식으로 그려지며 작품에 따라 다양한 분석과 해석을 가능케 한다. 죽음을 다룬 대표적 작품인 『샌프란시스코에서 온 신사』, 『엘라긴 소위 사건』, 『형제들』, 『창의 꿈』 등에서 ‘죽음’은 삶과 재물의 덧없음, 삶의 실존적 문제, 카르마와 종교 등 주로 철학적이며 형이상학적 문제들을 고찰하고 있다. 그에 반해 40여 편의 단편 모음집인 『어두운 가로수길』에서 ‘죽음’은 연인에 대한 사랑과 긴밀히 연관되어 있다. 이 단편집에서 삶과 사랑은 하나이며 사랑이 없는 삶은 죽음이며, 살아간다는 것은 바로 사랑한다는 것을 의미한다. 즉 『어두운 가로수길』에서 사랑과 죽음이라는 ‘영원한 테마’는 홀로 떨어져 빛나는 별이 아니라 유기적 관계를 맺고 인과관계를 형성하며 상호공존하며 빛나는 별자리라고 할 수 있다. 사랑과 죽음을 통해 인간은 비극으로서의 삶을 개념을 이해할 수 있다. 또한 인간은 자신과 자신을 둘러싼 세계를 새롭게 발견할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 그 세계의 아름다움과 복잡다단한 현상을 이해할 수 있게 된다.

영문 초록

There are quite a lot of key concepts that can identify the world of Bunin's works, such as rural life, Russia, the East and Buddhism, memory, love, women, and death. In particular, Russia, the East, memory, love, and death are key concepts that encompass and penetrate Bunin's literature as a whole. In particular, the theme of death is depicted in a colorful way in Bunin's creations, enabling various analyzes and interpretations depending on his works. In representative works dealing with death such as 『The Gentleman from San Francisco』, 『The Ensign Elagin Incident』, 『Brothers』, and 『Dream of a Spear』, 'death' refers to the transience of life and wealth, existential issues of life, karma and religion, etc. It is mainly concerned with philosophical and metaphysical problems. On the other hand, in 『Dark Garosu-gil』, a collection of about 40 short stories, ‘death’ is closely related to love for a lover. In this collection of short stories, life and love are one, life without love is death, and living means loving. In other words, the 'eternal theme' of love and death in 『Dark Garosu-gil』 is not a star that shines alone, but a constellation that forms an organic relationship, forms a causal relationship, and coexists with each other. Through love and death, humans can understand the concept of life as a tragedy. In addition, humans can newly discover themselves and the world around them, as well as understand the beauty and complex phenomena of the world.
