국문 초록

이 글은 최명익 문학에서 나타난 권태의 속성에 대해 연구하고자 하는 것이 목적이다. 1930년대 한국문학사에서 최명익은 모더니즘을 대표하는 작가 중 하나다. 최명익 문학에 대한 연구는 주로 그가 작품을 발표하기 시작한 1930년대부터 해방기 이전까지의 작품들이 중심이 되고 있다. 최명익이 활동하던 1930년대의 조선 문단은 당시 일본의 식민지배라는 특수한 상황과 함께, 이전과는 다른 정치적 사건이 발생하고 있었다. 바로 조선 프롤레타리아 예술동맹 카프(KAPF)의 해산이다. 1935년에 일어난 카프의 해산은 이후에 전개될 조선의 정치적·사회적 국면을 예고하는 상징적인 사건이었다. 1930년대의 조선 문단은 정치·사회적으로도 급격한 국면을 맞이하는 당대의 상황을 반영한다. 정치·사회적으로 급격한 국면을 맞이하게 된 1930년대의 상황이 문단 내부의 지형도마저 변화시켜 이전과는 다른 특정 미의식을 형성한다고 했을 때, 이 연구는 해방기 이전 최명익 문학에서 나타난 ‘권태’가 되겠다. 이와 함께 1930년대 후반의 문학사가 지닌 미적 성향에 대해 논의해보도록 할 것이다. 현재까지 최명익 문학에 나타난 권태를 연구한 논문은 많지 않다. 있다면 근대성과 모더니즘을 논하는 부분에서 권태가 잠깐 언급이 될 뿐, 최명익 문학에서 본격적으로 권태를 다룬 논문은 거의 없다고 볼 수 있겠다. 최명익 연구가 본격적으로 이루어지기 시작한 시기는 북한문학에 대한 해금조치가 이루어진 1988년 이후다. 그렇게 봤을 때 최명익에 대한 연구는 비교적 오래 되지 않았거니와, 월북 작가라는 이유만으로 한동안 터부시되었던 해방 이전의 그의 문학을 다시금 새롭게 바라볼 현재의 시각이 필요하다. 최명익 문학에 나타난 권태의 변모양상을 간단히 살펴보자면 다음과 같다. 첫 번째는 병리학적 서사로 본 1930년대 인텔리 계층의 자의식과 권태의 관계, 두 번째는 무용(無⽤)하고자 하는 의지와 자기회복적 권태와의 관계, 세 번째는 이데올로기와 권태의 관계가 그것이다. 최명익을 포함해 1930년대 모더니즘 문학에는 권태라는 요소가 공통적으로 감지되고 있었다. 이는 시대적 징후와 관련한다. 이 연구를 통해 최명익 문학에 나타난 지식인의 내면세계와 시대인식을 고찰해보도록 한다.

영문 초록

This paper is study on boredom in Choi Myeong-ik’s literature. Choi Myeong-ik is one of the representative writers of modernism in the history of Korean literature in the 1930s. The study on his literature is mainly centered on was active from the 1930s to before korea’s liberation. In the 1930s, when Choi worked as a writer, a political event was taking place differently before, along with the particular situation Japanese colonial at the time. It was disbandment ― of Korea Artista Proleta Federacio (KAPF). This disbandment that occurred in 1935 was a symbolic event that heralded the political and social phase of Joseon that would take place afterwards. The literary world in the 1930s reflects the situation of the time when the country faced a rapidphase politically and socially. Considering that when the situation in the 1930s with such a politically and socially rapid phase formed a specific aesthetic sense different from before as it even changed the topography inside the literary world, this study would be about “boredom” that appeared in Choi’s literature before the liberation period. With this, it discusses the aesthetic tendency of the literary world in the late 1930s. To date, there are not many studies on boredom in Choi’s literature. In there is, briefly mention boredom in the part that talks about modernity and modernism, so it can be said that there are few papers that cover boredom in his literature in detail. Research on Choi started in earnest after 1988, when the lifting of the ban on North Korean literature was implemented. In that way, research on him has not been relatively long, and a new perspective on his literature before the liberation, which had been tabooed just because he was a writer who defected to North Korea, is needed. A brief look at the aspect of changes in boredom in his literature is as follows. The first is the relation between self-consciousness and boredom of the intelligent class in the 1930s as a pathological narrative, the second is the relation between the will to be “of no use”(無⽤) and self-healing boredom, and the third is the relation between ideology and boredom. Including the literature by Choi Myeong-ik, the element “boredom” is commonly detected in modernist literature in the 1930s, which is associated with a periodic sign. Through this study considers the intellectual’s inner world and appeared in the literature by Choi Myeong-ik and the understand colonial times.
