소설 창작과 교수를 통한 문학장(⽂學場) 고찰

국문 초록

현재 작가이자 교수로 활동하고 있는 박형서는 소설 창작을 통해 문학장 전반에 걸친 탐색을 수행하고 있다. 그의 이러한 소설세계 구축은 대학 국문과와 대학원 문예창작과에서 창작과 이론을 심도있게 공부한 이력에 바탕을 둔 것이라 할 수 있다. 이와 같은 ‘(인)문학 교실’에서의 학습과 교수를 바탕으로 그는 문학적 재능과 학습, 작가수업의 도정, 논문 형식의 소설, 논쟁의 과정 소설화, 작가와 일반독자와의 관계 및 일부 전문독자 비판, 강단 지식인 사회 비판, 문학장의 현재 상황 등을 작품화한다. 오랜 기간 ‘(인)문학 교실’에서 수련하고 교수한 박형서에게 어쩌면 이 세계는 익숙할 수 있다. 그 주제에 대한 소설들은 기존의 박형서 작품세계라 평가되는 자유로운 상상력의 발화나 현실성의 결여와는 다른 방향의 작품 구축에 일조한다. 그렇다고 작가가 자신의 글쓰기 모토인 ‘다르게 쓰기’를 포기하는 것은 아니다. 오히려 그는 몇몇 작품에서 그것을 극단으로까지 추구하며 문학장의 현재를 고찰한다. 이러한 작업은 박형서 작품세계의 새로운 확장과 이후 작가의 작품세계 변모를 예견하게 한다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 아울러 우리의 문학장 내·외부 종사자들에게 현실의 직시와 성찰의 시간을 제공해준다는 점에서도 함의하는 바가 크다. 그리고 이 성과는, 박형서 소설과 문학장에 대한 구체적 점검이 부족한 현상황에서 차후 연구의 토대가 될 것이라 생각한다.

영문 초록

In Park, Hyeong-Seo’s story, his story further explores to the point where it looks at all across the literary field. His works based on writing exercises from the college of Korean Language & Literature along with the Graduate School of Creating Writing. In there, he built analytical readings and a variety of genres and approaches to the writing of fiction. His works showed us an array of ideas as follow: the talent and learning in literature, the road of becoming a writer, novel with the form of thesis, the novelization of the topic, the relationship between writer and general readers and negative criticism of professional readers, criticism against a flawed social structure as an intellectual as well as a lecturer, discussions about the current literary field. With his experienced learning and teaching of writing, those ideas can be easily grasped himself. In fact, those also show us his work from a different perspective by exposing the writer to a multitude of potential fictional forms. And the potential fictional forms differ greatly from his previous works that lack the sense of reality and are fully represented by his creativity. But, it does not mean that he changes his goal of writing, various ways of writing. Rather, he not only reviews his goal in his work also discusses the current literary field in a few different works thoroughly. This has a significant implication for his fictional forms. And it is expected the changes in conceptual model in his forms of writing. Further, it is meaningful in that it offers both readers and writers the opportunity to think more about the reality we are facing today.
