초등예비교사의 사물인터넷(IoT)에 대한 이해와 초등학교에서의 IoT 교육에 대한 인식

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 미래 초등학교에서의 사물인터넷(IoT) 교육을 위한 기초적 정보를 얻기 위한 것으로, 초등예비교사의 사물인터넷에 대한 이해의 정도를 조사하고, 이 연구에서 설계한 사물인터넷 장치를 실제 구성하고 작동을 체험하게 한 후, 개발된 장치의 적절성과 초등학교에서의 사물인터넷 교육에 대한 전망과 적합한 장치 및 내용 등에 대한 초등예비교사의 인식을 조사하는 것이다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등예비교사들의 사물인터넷 자체에 대한 이해와 사물인터넷 장치의 부품 구성과 작동 과정에 대한 이해의 정도가 낮았고, 실생활에 적용 경험이 많지 않았으지만, 사물인터넷에 대한 높은 학습 의욕을 나타내었기 때문에 사물인터넷 장치를 실제로 구성하고 체험할 수 있는 교수･학습의 기회를 제공하는 것이 필요하다고 판단된다. 둘째, 초등예비교사들은 사물인터넷 장치를 직접 구성하여 작동을 체험 한 후, 사물인터넷에 대한 이해가 증진되었고, 사물인터넷 장치를 구성하는 부품과 작동 과정, 생활 적용 분야 등에 대하여 이해의 정도가 향상되었다고 하였다. 셋째, 초등예비교사들은 사물인터넷이 우리 생활에 더 많이 적용될 것으로 예상하였으며, 관련 내용이 미래 초등교육과정에도 도입될 것 이라고 예측하고 있었다. 그리고 초등학교에서의 사물인터넷 관련 교육은 사물인터넷 장치의 작동에 대한 프로그램과 앱 프로그램을 코딩하는 내용도 포함되어야 하며, 사물인터넷 장치를 직접 구성하여 작동을 체험하는 간단한 형태가 적절하다고 하였다. 넷째, 초등예비교사들은 초등교육과정에 사물인터넷 관련 내용이 도입된다면, 실제 학생들의 일상 생활에서 경험할 수 있는 내용으로 구성되어야 하고, 실생활에 직접 적용한 예를 이해할 수 있는 내용이 적절하다고 하였다. 다섯째, 초등예비교사들은 사물인터넷의 작동과 관련하여 와이파이 모듈 방식과 블루투스 모듈 방식 중 사물인터넷 교육의 효율적 교수･학습을 위해서는 와이파이 모듈 방식이 적절하다고 평가하였다.

영문 초록

To obtain basic information for Internet of Things (IoT) education in future elementary schools, this study analyzed a sample of pre-service teachers to determine their degree of understanding of IoT. As such, they were allowed to directly configure and experience the operation of an IoT device. Points of focus included the appropriateness of the developed device, prospects for IoT education in elementary school, and perceptions on suitable devices and contents. The results were as follows. First, the participants had a low understanding of IoT itself and were not well-acquainted with IoT device composition or the operation process. While they did not have much experience applying IoT in daily life, they were highly motivated to learn about IoT devices. This highlights the need to provide structured opportunities for teaching, learning, and experience. Second, the participants said that their understanding of IoT had improved after directly configuring and experiencing the operation of the IoT device. In this case, they were able to understand the operation process pertaining to the parts constituting IoT and the field of application of IoT in daily life. Third, the participants predicted that IoT would increasingly be applied in daily life and appear as a component in future elementary education curricula. The participants said that elementary IoT education should include programming for IoT operation, which should be supported through direct IoT device configuration. Fourth, given that IoT-related contents are introduced into elementary education curricula, students should be able to experience those contents in daily life, with practical examples provided to enhance their understanding. Fifth, in relation to IoT operation, the WiFi module method was deemed appropriate for efficient teaching and learning, as compared to the Bluetooth module method.
