생태환경교육 프로그램 개발 및 적용이 초등학생의 인성에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 생태환경교육 프로그램을 개발·적용하여 초등학교 5학년의 인성 덕목에 미치는 영향을 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 2015 개정 교육과정을 분석하여 실과 교과 중심의 생태환경교육 프로그램을 개발하였다. 그리고 대구광역시 S구 소재 S초등학교 5학년 2개 학급을 실험집단과 비교집단으로 선정하여, 실험집단을 대상으로 6주간, 30차시의 생태환경교육 프로그램을 실시했다. 이 연구에서 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 5학년 교육과정 분석 및 재구성을 통해 생태환경교육 프로그램을 개발했다. 둘째, 생태환경교육 프로그램은 초등학교 학생들의 인성 덕목 중 성실(P<.05), 인내(P<.05), 안정(P<.01), 협동(P<.05), 생명존중(P<.05)에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 위의 연구 결과를 볼 때, 생태환경교육 프로그램이 초등학생의 인성 덕목을 함양하는데 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 학생들은 생태환경교육 프로그램에 참여하며 동·식물을 접하는 가운데 그 관계 속에서 생명을 사랑하고 자신의 마음을 돌볼 수 있는 시간을 가졌다. 특히, 학생들에게 성실, 인내, 안정, 협동, 생명존중와 같은 인성 덕목 점수에서 긍정적 향상이 있었다. 결론적으로, 초등학교 교육과정 중 동·식물을 직접 활용한 생태환경교육 프로그램의 개발 및 적용이 학생들의 인성 함양에 유의미한 향상이 있었음을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study developed and applied an ecological environmental program based on an integrated curriculum, then examined its effects on character virtues among elementary school students. We achieved this through the following steps. First, we developed the program with a focus on practical arts, such that participants took care of animals and plants that were easily accessible in the classroom. Second, we analyzed how the program impacted their character development. To achieve our research purpose, we developed the program in connection with the 2015 revised integrated curriculum. We then selected two fifth-grade classes from “S” elementary school in the “S” district of Daegu as the experimental and control groups, the former of which received 30 sessions of the environmental education program over an eight-week period. The results were as follows. First, we successfully developed the ecological environmental education program after analyzing and reconstructing the fifth-grade curriculum. Second, the program positively affected the virtues of sincerity, perseverance, stability, cooperation, and respect for life in the experimental group; these participants had time to appreciate life and take care of their own minds by relating to and experiencing the ecosystem. In conclusion, this study developed and applied an ecological environmental education program that allowed elementary school students to directly interact with animals and plants as part of their curriculum. Based on several virtue improvements, this significantly enhanced their character development.
