교과용도서 발행 체제 변화에 따른 초등 ‘사회’교과서의 다양성 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등 ‘사회’ 교과서가 검정도서로 전환됨으로써 실제로 교과서가 얼마나 다양해졌는지를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 교과서의 개성이 상당부분 발현될 수 있는 중단원명과 활동의 소재, 특별 페이지의 방향성에서 교과서 간 차이가 거의 나타나지 않았다. 교과서 간 다양성이 부족한 원인으로는 검정심사 합격을 위한 심사기준에 대한 고려, 검정 경험 부족, 동일 교육과정에 따라 개발된 국정 교과서의 존재 등에서 찾을 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 소주제의 전개 방식과 내용 기술 방식, 그리고 특별 페이지의 주제와 자료에서 개발자의 현장 수업 경험이 반영된 다양성을 확인할 수 있었으며, 이는 교사 집필자들이 수업 전문가로서의 역량을 최대한 발현하였기 때문으로 해석할 수 있다. 검정도서로의 전환에 대한 학교 현장의 기대가 컸던 만큼 교과서 간 다양성에 대한 실망감이 큰 것도 사실이지만, 이번 검정 교과서 개발 과정에서도 분명 다양성을 위한 노력이 있었으며, 다양성을 만들어내는 동력은 교사의 전문성이라는 점을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed how diversified elementary ‘Social Studies’ textbooks have become due to changes in the textbook publication system. As a result of the analysis, there were hardly any differences between textbooks in the name of the sub-unit, the material of the activity, and the direction of the special page that each textbook could reveal their individuality. The reasons for the lack of diversity among textbooks can be found in consideration of screening criteria for admission, lack of experience, and the existence of national textbooks developed according to the same curriculum. Nevertheless, it was possible to confirm the diversity reflecting the developer's field class experience in the development of the sub-topic, the description of the content, and the subject and material of the special page, which can be interpreted as the fact that the teacher writers fully expressed their competence as class experts. It is true that there was a lot of disappointment at the diversity among textbooks as the expectations were high at the school site, but it was clear that efforts were made for diversity in the textbook development process, and it was confirmed that the driving force for diversity was the overall professionalism of teachers.
