노화에 대한 중·장년기 발달장애인과 가족의 경험 및 지원요구

국문 초록

연구목적: 고령화시대에 접어들며 중장년층의 발달장애인 인구가 늘어나는 추세이다. 이에 본 연구는 발달장애인과 그들의 가족들에게 노화에 대한 인식 및 경험을 들어봄으로써 중장년층 발달장애인 지원을 위한 실천적 지원방안을 탐색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구방법: 36세 이상의 발달장애인 당사자 또는 그들의 가족 총 18명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 전사된 면담자료는 연속적 비교분석법을 통해 분석하였으며, 그 결과 5개의 범주, 16개의 하위주제를 도출하였다. 연구결과: 중장년 발달장애인은 현재 낮 활동의 부재를 경험하고 있었으며 사회적 지원망 주로 가족으로부터 지원을 받고 있었다. 또한 노화로 인한 여러 측면에서의 변화를 보고하였으며, 특히 노화로 인한 삶에 대한 걱정을 함께 보고하였다. 결론: 연구결과를 토대로 중장년 발달장애인과 가족들의 보다 긍정적인 노화를 도모하는 지원방안에 대해 실천적 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: As we enter the era of aging, the population of middle-aged adults with developmental disabilities is growing. Thus, the purpose of this study was to explore the practical implications for supporting middle-aged adults with developmental disabilities and their families by listening to their perceptions and experiences. Method: In-depth interviews were conducted with 18 people with developmental disabilities who are over 36 years old and their families. Transcribed interview data were analyzed using the constant comparative method, and a total of 5 themes and 16 sub-themes emerged. Results: Middle-aged adults with developmental disabilities were currently experiencing a lack of daytime activities and receiving support from their social support network, mainly family members. Also, aging-related changes in a range of aspects were reported. In particular, concerns about life due to aging were highlighted. Conclusion: Based on the results, practical implications were suggested to promote more positive aging experiences of middle-aged adults with developmental disabilities and their families.
