국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 죽음, 공동체 및 예술에 대한 니체의 사유를 검토함으로써 그가 말하는 ‘주권적 개인’의 공동체적이고 미학적인 성격을 밝히는 것이다. 니체의 초기 사상에 나타난 내재주의적 공동체 관념은 후기의 디오니소스적 생성 긍정의 철학 속에서 새로운 미학적 공동체 관념으로 변모한다. 초기에 그는 개인들이 국가라는 전체성의 가상에 대한 헌신을 통해 삶의 무의미로부터 구제되어야 한다고 보았지만, 후기에는 가상적 구제를 거부하고 주권적 개인을 강조한다. 이러한 후기 견해는 탈공동체적인 것으로 간주되는 경향이 있다. 그러나 그의 견해는 전체성의 가상에 구속된 세인의 삶을 거부하며 개인의 고유성을 회복하려는 하이데거의 입장과 다르다. 또한 전체성으로의 윤리적 기투를 고유성의 실현으로 보는 와쓰지의 입장과도 전혀 다른 것이다. ‘주권적 개인’에 대한 니체의 견해는 오히려 낭시와 블랑쇼가 말하는 탈자태적 단독성과 비인칭성을 지닌 소통적 활동성과 같다. 예술적 실존으로서의 주권적 개인성은 단순한 탈공동체적 실존이 아니라 공동체적 활동의 부단한 과정이자 결과물이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to show the communistic and aesthetic characteristics of the ‘sovereign individual’ in Nietzsche’s thoughts, by examining his thinking about death, community and art. In his early writings, he thought that individuals had to be redeemed from meaninglessness of life by devoting themselves to their states as the illusion of totality. The community that he pictured may be called an immanentist community in the words of Jean-Luc Nancy. Later, such an idea had been transformed into the aesthetic idea of community,from which the illusory redemption was rejected, and the sovereign individuals were emphasized instead. This later thought of Nietzsche tends to be regarded as an anti-communism. However, in order to understand rightly Nietzsche’s view, we have to distinguish it from Heidegger’s. Heidegger valued the authenticity of individuals, criticizing the life of ‘Das Man’ bound to the illusion of totality. It’s not to say Nietzsche’s view is entirely different from Watsuji Tetsurō(和辻哲郞)’s in which an ethical projection into totality is seen as the realization of sovereignty. Sovereignty of individual in Nietzche’s thought can be considered as the communicative activity that, Jean-Luc Nancy and Maurice Blanchot think, has the ecstatic singularity and impersonality. The sovereign individuality as aesthetic existence is not anti-communistic existence but both constant process and the results of communistic activities.
