국문 초록

본 연구는 해방직후 서울과 평양에서 진행된 민족문화 건설 관련 논의를 검토한 후, 북한 민주주의 민족문화 건설 방침의 수립과 내용을 살펴보고자 하였다. 해방직후 좌파 문화인들은 전통을 숭상하는 국수주의적 문화관이 민주주의와 사회 변혁을 가로막고 역사 왜곡과 피시즘을 불러일으킬 위험이 있다고 비판하면서, 전통문화와의 일정한 단절을 주장하였다. 북한의 문화인들과 공산주의자들 역시 이와 유사한 문화관을 피력하였다. 그러나 북한에서 인민민주주의 정권이 수립되는 현실 속에서 북한에서는 보다 민족주의적 경향의 문화건설방안이 마련되었다. 북한의 민주주의 민족문화 건설 방침은 민주주의 사상을 문화적 방면에서도 실현하고, 민족문화전통을 계승하며, 외국의 선진 문화를 적극 도입한다는 세 가지 원칙을 가졌다. 북한은 문학예술사업과 조선사·조선어 편찬, 고적보존사업을 조직적으로 추진하여 민족문화 건설의 토대를 마련해 나갔다.

영문 초록

This Paper examined the discussions related to making national culture in Seoul and Pyongyang immediately after liberation, and the policy for making democratic national culture of North Korea. Immediately after liberation, left-wing theorists are criticized the chauvinistic view of culture that respects tradition as an obstacle to democracy and social change and risked distorting history and inducing fascism. They insisted on the rejection of national tradition. Cultural figures and communists of North Korea expressed a similar view of culture. However, there were settled more nationalistic model on construction of national culture, in the reality of establishing a people's democratic regime in North Korea. North Korea's policy of democratic national culture had three principles: realizing democratic ideas in the realm of culture, inheriting national cultural traditions, and introducing advanced foreign cultures. North Korea had laid the foundation for the establishment of the national culture by systematically promoting the literary and artistic project, the compilation of national history and language, and the preservation of historic sites.
