국문 초록

본 연구는 중년기 남녀가 은퇴 후 추구하는 삶의 의미에 대한 현상학적 연구이다. 본 연구의 목적은중년 남녀가 은퇴 후, 추구하는 삶의 의미를 현상학적 연구방법으로 찾아봄으로써 은퇴 후의 삶을좀 더 의미 있게 보내는데 기여하고자 하는 것이다. 중년기 남녀 5명을 대상으로 개별심층면담을 실시하여 은퇴 후 추구하는 삶의 의미를 현상학적으로 분석하였다. 연구문제에 대한 주요 결과는 경제적안정, 사회적 적응, 심리적 적응, 자아실현으로 범주화되었다. 은퇴를 앞 둔 중년기 남녀는 경제적안정을 기반으로 사회적 유대관계와 봉사와 재능기부를 통해 사회에 적응하는 것을 중요한 의미로보았다. 이 과정에서 심리적 여유를 가지고 삶을 단순화하는 심리적 적응단계는 매우 중요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 무엇보다 중요한 점은 은퇴는 이제 더 이상 삶을 마무리 하고 정리하는 시간이 아니라재설계의 시간이며, 취미생활을 통해 자신이 진정 원하는 일을 찾아가는 자아실현의 과정이라는점이다. 뿐만 아니라 은퇴를 준비하는 과정에서 은퇴자 개인이 스스로 계획하고 준비해야 하지만은퇴자의 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있는 정책적, 사회적 노력과 뒷받침 역시 필요할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study is a phenomenological study on the meaning of life pursued by middle-aged menand women after retirement. The purpose of this study is to contribute to spending the life afterretirement in a more meaningful way by finding the meaning of life pursued by middle-agedmen and women after retirement through phenomenological research methods. Individualin-depth interviews were conducted with five middle-aged men and women to analyze themeaning of life pursued after retirement phenomenologically. The main results of the researchwere categorized into economic stability, social adaptation, psychological adaptation, andself-realization. Middle-aged men and women who are about to retire viewed adapting tosociety through social bonds, service, and talent donation based on economic stability as animportant factor. In this process, it was recognized that the psychological adaptation stage ofsimplifying life with psychological leeway is very important. Most importantly, retirement is nolonger a time to finish and organize one’s life, but a time of redesign, as well as a process ofself-realization to find what one really wants through hobbies. In addition, in the process ofpreparing for retirement, individual retirees should plan and prepare on their own, but policies,social efforts, and support is also required to meet the needs of retirees.
