경제정책의 불확실성이 기업의 투자효율성에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 최근 들어 회계분야에서 활발히 연구되고 있는 경제정책의 불확실성이 해당기업의 투자효율성에 미치는 영향에 대해서 실증분석을 수행하고자 한다. 2021년은 여전히 코로나바이러스감염증-19라는 외부충격으로 인하여, 향후 1년, 아니 1개월을 쉽사리 예측하기 힘든 불확실성의 시대에 살아가고 있다. 특히, 한국기업의 경우에도, 코로나바이러스감염증-19로 인하여 대면보고를 할 수 없는 상황으로 인하여, 비대면(언택트)문화를 기반으로 한 기업문화가 발달하고 있고, 그로 인해서 Zoom 혹은 Webex 등의 화상회의 전문회사는 최고주가를 나타내고 있다. 1997년부터 2019년까지의 기간을 대상으로 실증분석을 수행한 결과, 경제정책의 불확실성이 심화될수록 해당 기업의 투자효율성은 좋아지고, 특히, 과대투자를 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 추가분석에서 경제정책의 불확실성이 노동투자효율성을 증진시키며, 차기의 자본적 지출 규모를 감소시키지만 차기의 연구개발투자는 오히려 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 최근 들어 해외에서 활발히 연구되고 있는 경제정책의 불확실성과 관련하여 한국기업을 대상으로 경제정책의 불확실성이 해당 기업의 투자효율성에 미치는 다양한 부분을 최초로 실증하였다는 점에서 의의가 크다고 판단된다.

영문 초록

This study aims to conduct an empirical analysis on the effect of economic policy uncertainty, which has been actively studied in the recent accounting field, on the investment efficiency of the company focusing on Korean listed firms. 2021 is still living in an era of uncertainty where it is difficult to predict the next year or even one month due to the external shock of COVID-19. In particular, even in the case of Korean companies, a corporate culture based on an untact culture is developing due to the situation in which face-to-face reports cannot be made due to COVID-19. As a result of conducting an empirical analysis for the period from 1997 to 2019, it was found that the greater the uncertainty in the economic policy, the better the investment efficiency of the relevant company. Further analysis showed that the uncertainty of economic policy improves labor investment efficiency and decreases the amount of capital expenditure of the next period, but rather increases the R&D investment of the next period. This study is considered to be of great significance in that it comprehensively examines the various areas that the uncertainty of economic policy affects the investment efficiency of the Korean listed firms.
