영문 초록

Rock carvings of our country have introduced since the nineteen seventies. Except for artificial rock carvings, most of them are distributed on the beach-the East and southern sea and rivers-Nakdong, Taewha, Hyoungsan. However, artificial rock carvings are found throughout the country. In previous achievement in research, these rock carvings are studied mainly in archaeological and forkloric ways and are interpreted abundance and multiparacity. This research deals with some typical Buddhist remains among lots of rock carvings in Yeongnam-the southeastern part of Korea. I chose something special among a mountaintop shrouded in mystery or miraculous rocks or some dolmen or ancient things indicative of prehistoric and so on. I referred to foreign resea rch materials and different interpretation classified by the times and regional character. According to research findings, it is natural that we see mysterious mountain or rocks and Buddhist remains as vestiges of ancient incantation acted by the ancients who hoped to maintain peace and fortune.
