지리학과 역사학의 융합으로 본 요동성의 위치

국문 초록

6세기 말과 7세기 초에 동아시아에서 대전쟁이 있었다. 그 전쟁은 고구려와수나라 사이의 전쟁이다. 고·수전쟁은 다물정신으로 고조선의 고토회복을 한고구려와 위진남북조시대를 끝내고 중원을 통일한 수나라 간의 대 전쟁이였다. 당시에 수나라는 2백만 명의 병력으로 침공하였으나 고구려가 그들을 물리쳤다. 전쟁에서 패한 수나라 2대 황제 수양제는 고구려와의 무리한 전쟁을 계속하여내부에서 반란이 일어나 나라가 망하였다. 이 대전쟁의 전투지 중 요동성과 요수가 있다. 고구려는 필사적으로 싸워 요동성과 요수에서 승리하였다. 그렇다면고·수전쟁은 역사적으로 중요한 사건임이 틀림없다. 또한 이 사건이 일어난 공간을 밝히는 것은 중요하다. 이 사건이 일어난 공간을 밝히려면 전쟁 당시의 지명들에 주목해야 한다. 이 논문에서는 고·수전쟁 당시에 고구려가 수나라에 맞서서 많은 사상자를 낸 곳인 요수와 요동성에 대해서 주목하였고, 현재 남북학계와 중국학계에서 비정한 요수는 요하이고, 요동성은 요녕성 요양시로 보고 있다. 이는 요동군을 만주로 보고 요동군의 속현인 요양현을 요양시로 본 것이다. 현재 남한, 북한 그리고 중국의 역사학자들은 고·수전쟁 당시 요동성을 만주지역의 요녕성 요양시로 보고 있으며, 요수를 요하로 보고 있다. 이는 고대요동을현재의 요동으로 보고 있다는 점이다. 그러나 고대요동은 갈석산으로 보면 지금의 요서지역, 하북성 동쪽에 있음을 알 수 있으며, , 또한 요수는 요수의 흐름을알려주는 사료를 통해서 지리적인 관점에서 지금의 난하로 비정하였다. 이에 따라서 요동성의 위치를 알려주는 사료와 부합하는지 알아보았고, 이것은 지리학과 역사학의 융합을 통해 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

There was a great war in East Asia at the end of the 6th and early 7th centuries. The war is between Goguryeo and Sui Dynasty. The Goguryeo-Sui Dynasty War was a great war between Goguryeo, who restored Gojoseon's homeland with the spirit of purity, and the Sui Dynasty, which ended the Northern and Southern dynasties and unified China. At that time, Sui Dynasty invaded with 2 million troops, but Koguryeo defeated them. Emperor Yang, the second emperor of the Sui Dynasty, who was defeated in the war, continued an unreasonable war with Goguryeo, and internal rebellion broke out. Among the battlegrounds of this great war, there are Liaodong-Fortress and Liao-Su. Goguryeo fought desperately and won at Liaodong-Fortress and Liao-Su. Then, the Gosu Wars(Goguryeo-Sui wars) must be a historically important event. It is also important to identify the space where this event took place. In order to reveal the space where this event took place, it is necessary to pay attention to the place names during the war. In this paper, attention was paid to Liao-Su and Liaodong-Fortress, where Goguryeo suffered many casualties against the Sui Dynasty during the Gosu Wars. This show that Liaodong-county was viewed as Manchuria and Liaoyang City, a sub-city of Liaodong-county, was viewed as Liaoyang City. Currently, historians from South Korea, North Korea, and China see Liaodong Fortress as Liaoyang City in Liaoning Province during the Gosu-Sui War, and see Liao-Su as Liao-River. This means that ancient Liaodong are viewed as current Liaodong. However, if you look at the ancient Liaodong fromJieshi Mountain, you can see that it is located in the east of the present-day Hebei region, Hebei Province. Also, the ancient Liaodong was classified as the present Luan-River from the geographical point of view through historical sources that show the flow of the Liao-Su. Accordingly, he tried to find out whether it was consistent with the historical documents that show the location of Liaodong-Fortress, and this could be known through the fusion of geography and history.
