국문 초록

오색 차명상은 원허 지운의 자비다선 차명상 중 한 가지 명상법으로 노란색, 흰색, 붉은색, 녹색, 그리고 푸른색의 다섯 가지 색의 차를 이용한다. 이 다섯 가지 색은 찻물의 실제의 색이기도 하지만 상상을 이용하여 만들어내는 색이기도 하다. 본 연구에서는 오색 차명상을 불교적 시각을 바탕으로 세 가지 관점에서 고찰해 보았다. 첫째, 다섯 가지 색채와 관련하여 『청정도론』에 나타난 까시나 수행으로서의 관점이다. 오색 차명상은 대상의 색채를 이미지로 취하고 집중하는 사마타 명상인 까시나 수행에서 한발 더 나아가 몸 안으로 끌어들인다는 면에서 좀 더 적극적이다. 둘째로는 오대요소와 관련하여 붓다의 가르침이 전해지는 『라훌라경』에 나타난 동조 수행으로서의 관점이다. 오색 차명상은 오대요소와 동조하는 수행으로서는 공통점이 있지만 오대요소의 색채 및 심리와 관련한 명상에 중점을 두고 있다는 점에서 차이가 있다. 마지막으로 불교 수행으로서의 관점이다. 오색 차명상은 알아차림과 집중, 그리고 자비심을 바탕으로 삼학 수행의 체계를 따른다고 할 수 있다. 오색 차명상은 현대 명상법의 트렌드라 할 수 있는 자비심을 바탕으로 알아차림과 집중이 잘 통합된 수행법이라 할 수 있다. 여기에 차가 결합하여 자신을 올바르게 지키고 도덕적 품성을 함양하는 인성교육의 역할을 기대할 수 있을 것으로 생각한다.

영문 초록

The Five-color Tea-meditation is one of Wonher Ji-Woon's Loving-kindness & Compassion Tea-meditations using five different colors of tea. The five colors are yellow, white, red, green, and blue. These five colors are not only the actual colors of tea, but also the colors created by imagination. In this study, the Five-color Tea-meditation was considered from three perspectives based on the Buddhist perspective. First, in relation to the five colors, it is a viewpoint as a practice of kasina that appears in 『Visuddhimagga』. Second, it is the perspective of the practice of conformity expressed in the 『Mahā-Rāhulovāda Sutta』, in which the teachings of the Buddha are transmitted in relation to the Five-elements. Lastly, it is the perspective of mindfulness and the practice of the three supreme principles: 1) Sila or precepts 2) Samadhi or concentration 3) Prajna or transcendental wisdom. The Five-color Tea-meditation is a well-integrated practice of Vipassana of mindfulness and Samatha of concentration based on loving-kindness and compassion, which can be said to be the trend of modern meditation. I think that by combining this with tea, we can expect the role of character education that protects oneself properly and cultivates moral character.
