이인(異人)에 대한 조선 후기 지배층의 인식 고찰

국문 초록

본고에서는 유집을 바탕으로 이인에 대한 조선 후기 지배층의 인식의 일면을 살펴보았다. 유집에 형상화된 이인의 행적은 피지배층 시선으로규정한 이인의 특성과 거리가 있었다. 사회적 변화 및 혼란 속에서 피지배층은 현실의 문제를 해결하여 삶의 고통을 해결하거나 삶을 안정화하는 데 일조할 수 있는 인물 즉 피지배층의 사정과 의식을 수렴하고 대변할 수 있는존재를 이인으로 인식하였다. 반면 지배층은 피지배층을 구제하여 민심을 수습하고 지배 이념 및 질서를 유지할 수 있는 인물, 즉 유학의 이상 사회를 구현할 수 있는 규범적 인물을 이인으로 인식하였다. 그리고 이러한 인식에는사회적으로 경제적으로 안정된 삶을 살고자 하는 인간의 보편적 욕망, 지배이념인 유학의 강화를 통한 유학 기반 이상 사회의 실현 추구, 유학 이외의사상에 대한 인정을 통한 유학 가치의 제고 등의 의미가 반영되어 있었다. 즉당대의 일부 지배층은 과거를 반추하고 현실을 직시하여 이상적 삶을 영위하거나 이상적 사회를 구현하기 위해 이인을 형상화하였다.

영문 초록

with respect to an extraordinary person written in Yujip. Traces of the past of extraordinary persons written in Yujip were different from characteristics of extraordinary persons defined by the ruled class. In social change and chaos the ruled class perceived a person who could solve actual problems, resolve the miseries of human life and stabilize livings as the extraordinary person who could collect and represent situations and consciousness of the ruled class. On the other hand the ruling class perceived a person who could relieve the ruled class, settle the public sentiment and maintain ruling ideology and order as the extraordinary person who could be normative person that could realize an ideal society of confucianism. The one aspect of perception of the ruling class was contained with human universal needs to live socially and economically stable lives, pursuit to realize an ideal society of confucianism by reinforcing ruling ideology, and will to raise value of confucianism by recognizing ideas except confucianism. In other words some people of the ruling class of the time described traces of the past of extraordinary persons in order to ruminate the past, face up to the reality, lead an ideal life and realize an ideal society.
