국문 초록

1960년대 이후의 도자조형작업들의 특징 중 하나는 일상의 이미지를 포함한 서사적 요소들이 많이 나타나고 있다는 것이다. 작품의 이해와 일상이라는 소재에 대한 상황설명이 이루어진다고도 말할 수 있는데, 이러한 설명적 요인은 주변에서 쉽게 접하게 되는 인물, 사물 등의 형상적 표현에 의한 직접적인 상황설명이나 그 속에 존재하는 상징과 풍자, 사회 비판적 표현형태 등에 대한 은유적 표현이 구조적으로 배치, 결합되면서 독특한 이야기 구조를 만들어 내기 때문이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 구조적 특징을 살펴볼 수 있는 로버트 아네슨(Robert Arneson)의 인물상에 나타난 자아표현을 중심으로 현대인이 만들어가는 페르소나와 서사구조를 분석하고자했다. 작품에 대한 구조적 접근은 아네슨의 작품 속에서 선택적으로 표현된 오브제들의 역할과 이야기를 분석하여 인물상 속에 내재된 현대인의 정체성과 시대성을 확인할 수 있는 효과적인 방법으로 작용하였고, 작품을 이해하고 작가가 전달하고자 하는 내용을 보다 명확하게 하는 효과를 확인할 수 있기 때문에 이러한 구조적 표현이 현대도예에 이르기까지 그 영역을 확장할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

One of the characteristics of ceramic formative works, since the 1960s is that there have been a lot of narrative elements including images of daily life. In other words, there have been understanding of the works and descriptions of situations of the material, daily life, and these descriptive factors appeared because direct descriptions of situations by figurative expressions such as people and things, symbolism and satire existing in them, or metaphorical expressions about the forms of critical expressions of society create unique narrative structures as they are structurally placed and combined. This study attempted to analyze the persona and narrative structure the modern people create, focusing on self-expressions in Robert Arneson s figures, in which these structural features could be examined. A structured approach to the works acted as an effective method through which the identity and phase of modern people inherent in the figures could be found by analyzing the roles and stories of the objects selectively expressed in Robert Arneson s works, and since it was found that it had effects on the understanding of the works and further clarify the details the artist tries to deliver, this structural representation could expand the domain up to contemporary ceramics.
