국문 초록

한자의 한반도 전래는 중국의 전국(戰國)시대로 거슬러 올라간다는 사실이 고고학적으로 밝혀졌다. 한반도 남서부에 있는 한국 고대 3국 중 하나인 백제는 북방 한사군(漢四郡)과 이웃 나라인 고구려의 영향으로 일찍부터 한자를 수용했으며 고고학 발굴에 의해 현재까지 다양한 문자자료가 확인되었다. 그중 명문토기는 수량이 많고 종류가 풍부하다. 명문의 형태와 표기방식에 따라 크게 인장과 각서(刻書)로 나눌 수 있는데, 내용적으로는 당시의 토기 생산처, 사용처, 그리고 역사적 기사(記事)나 사람들의 기원・사회적 유행 사상 등이 표현되어 있다. 명문을 통해 해당 토기의 생산과 유통, 소비 현황에 대한 접근도 가능하다. 따라서 명문토기는 문헌이 부족한 백제시대의 역사적인 모습을 복원할 수 있는 귀중한 자료이다. 또한 백제 명문토기에는 당시 한반도의 다른 국가 및 중국 대륙, 일본에서 출토된 문자 유물과의 연관성이 반영되어 있어, 동아시아 한자 문화가 전파됐다는 역사적인 사실을 객관적으로 입증하고 있으므로 중요한 학술적 의의를 내포하고 있다.

영문 초록

Through archaeological discoveries, the introduction of Chinese characters into the Korean Peninsula can be traced back to the Warring States period in China. Baekje, one of the ancient three kingdoms of South Korea, located in the southwest of the Korean Peninsula, was influenced by the Four Commanderies of Han in the north and the neighboring Koguryo. It began to accept and use Chinese characters very early. Up to now, various unearthed written materials have been confirmed. Among them, the number of inscribed pottery is large and the types are rich. According to the form and marking method of the inscription, it can be roughly divided into seal and carving. In terms of content, it shows the nature related to the pottery production place, consumption place, some historical records or people s wishes and social popular ideas. The inscriptions also indicate the production, circulation and consumption of relevant pottery at that time. It can be seen that the inscribed pottery is a precious material to restore the historical and cultural face of Baekje, which is lack of literature. In addition, the correlation between the inscriptions reflected in other nations in the Korean Peninsula, the Chinese mainland and Japan, also revealed that Baekje inscribed pottery objectively confirms the historical fact of the development of Chinese character cultural circle in East Asia, which is of great academic significance.
