국문 초록

화산유적은 수원-화성일대의 중심고분군일 가능성이 높은 유적이다. SM4호분이라고 명명한 한고분 주위에서 다량의 기와가 채집되었는데 봉토 축조과정에서 겹겹이 깔았던 것으로 판단된다. 형태적 측면에서는 낮은 소성도, 갈색계 색조의 높은 비중, 얇은 두께, 瓦刀로 깨끗이 정면된 측면과 端部, 유단식 기와의 미발달 등에서 이미 알려진 한성기 기와와 상통한다. 한편 사립이 거의 섞이지 않은 泥質 태토, 점토띠에 의한 성형, 격자문이 주류를 이루는 문양, 포목혼의 抹消 등이 특징인데, 이러한 요소는 당시 토기의 그것과 상통한다. 따라서 도공들이 주체가 된 기와생산공정을 상정할 수 있다. 백제 기와의 계보는 낙랑과 연결될 가능성이 높으나 기술의 전래 과정에서 선택적 수용과 지역적 변형이 이루어졌던 것으로 판단된다.

영문 초록

It is highly probable that the Hwasan burial cluster was the central one of its kind in Suwon and Hwasong area. A large number of roof-tiles were collected around a burial mound named SM No. 4, and these are considered to have been piled up layer by layer during the construction of the mound. On the one hand, they are similar to those from Hanseong Paekche, judging from their thinness, well-cut ends and sides using roof-tile cutting knives (瓦刀), lack of notches, low firing temperatures, brown color, and high density. On the other hand, they are technologically related with pottery-making at the time, judging from the use of clay with little sand, clay-band molding technology, domination of fretwork decorations, and erased linen marks. Therefore, it is suggested that specialized pottery manufacturers led the production of roof-tiles. Although Paekche roof-tiles would have been originated from Lolang, the technology must have been selectively adopted and modified during the process of diffusion.
