국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 중부지방 3∼4세기대 고분군을 대상으로 세부편년 체계를 수립하는 데 있다. 이 글에서는 그간에 이루어진 중부지방 고분의 연구가 편의적인 자료 선택고 해석에 기초한 편년을 바탕으로 이루어졌다는 문제의식에서 대상 유적 단위별로 상대편년을 새로이 시도하였다. 이어 그 편년 결과에 기초해 보다 세분된 분기를 확정하였다. 이 글에서 적용한 편년방법은 발생순서배열법으로서 토기가 출토된 개별 무덤을 단위로 하고 토기의 형 및 속성을 기준으로 삼았다. 그런데 편년은 서울·경기지역과 충청지역의 문화적 양상이 4세기 전반대까지는 서로 다르다고 판단되기 때문에 두 지역을 나누어 시행하였다. 그 결과 ·경기지역과 충청북부 지역의 고분군을 토기류의 기종 구성과 양식에 기초해 각각 Ⅰ기와 Ⅱ기 양식단계로 구분하였는데, 한성 Ⅰ기는 다시 전기와 후기로, 한성Ⅱ기는 전기, 중기, 후기로, 충청북부 Ⅰ기는 조기, 전기, 중기, 후기로, 충청북부 Ⅱ기는 전기, 중기, 후기로 세분하였다. 연대는 한성 Ⅰ기가 3세기 후반∼4세기 전엽, 한성Ⅱ기가 4세기 중후엽∼5세기 중엽에, 충청북부 Ⅰ기가 2세기 후엽∼4세기 전엽, 충청북부Ⅱ기가 4세기 중후엽∼5세기 후반에 비정되었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to establish a chronology of burial mound groups of central Korea in the third and fourth centuries A.D. The sites studied here are burial mound groups that were constructed during the third and fourth centuries A.D. in the Seoul·Gyeonggi area and the northern Chungcheong area. In this study, using occurrence seriation and analyzing the form and attributes of the pottery found in burials, I examine the temporal sequence of each burial. Because cultural aspects of the Seoul·Gyeonggi area and northern Chungcheong are differ greatly until the fourth century A.D., the two areas are understood as two different groups. On the basis of pottery style, each area is divided into two periods. Hanseong Ⅰ period (late third century∼early fourth century) is subdivided into two phases, and Hanseong Ⅱ period (mid to late fourth century∼late fifth century) into three, during which Hanseong style pottery begins to appear in the northen Chungcheong area. The analysis shows that while there was some degree of delay of appearance of Hanseong area, the similarity between the two areas in the composition of burial good and in the pottery style emerged in the fourth century and gradually increased in the fifth cenury, Therefore, it is argued this cultural lag diminishes through time.
