국문 초록

한국교회의 교회사회복지실천의 역사는 그 자체로서만 이루어진 것이 아니다. 한국교회 사회복지 역사의 의미를 이해하기 위해서 한국사, 한국교회사, 한국 사회복지 발달사의 맥락 속에서 검토할 필요가 있다. 기독교 초기 사회복지는 자선사업과 사회개혁운동의 두 흐름으로 나눌 수 있다. 자선사업은 의료사업, 교육사업, 고아원과 양로원 운영사업 등 이었으며, 사회개혁운동에는 독립협회의 활동, 여권신장, 계몽운동, 항일운동 등이다. 이 두 흐름은 차후에 기독교 사회복지의 전통과 사회선교의 전통의 큰 흐름으로 나타나게 되었고, 그 신학적 배경이나 교회의 여건, 그리고 사회복지의 프로그램 등에 의해 그 흐름이 경향적으로 나타나고 있음을 알 수 있다. 한국교회와 사회복지실천의 역사적 흐름에서 볼 때 한국교회는 짧은 교회 역사에 비해 한국문화에 엄청난 영향을 끼쳤다. 한국 교회는 교인들의 실제 생활 속에서 교회의 봉사, 자선사업을 통하여 지역사회에 소개되었고, 가난한 자들에게 봉사하였다 다시 말하면 사회 저변의 소외 된 자들에게 이웃이 되려고 노력하였다. 또한 초기 한국교회는 전반적인 문화 활동을 동반함으로써 조국 근대화의 주적인 역할을 담당하여 온 것이 사실이다. 개화기에 있어서 기독교를 통한 사회 활동을 보면 신교육사업과 의료사업, 청소년 운동, 문화 활동, 여성해방운동, 생활개선, 건강, 위생에 대한 계몽 등의 사업을 주로 행하였다. 이처럼 교회는 사회복지실천을 통하여 근대화 작업을 주로 하였다. 한국교회사 속에서 교회사회복지실천의 역사를 살펴보고자 한다.

영문 초록

The history of church social welfare practice in the Korean church is not made by itself. In order to understand the meaning of Korean church social welfare history, it is necessary to examine it in the context of Korean history, Korean church history, and the development history of Korean social welfare. Christian social welfare can be divided into two streams: charity work and social reform movement. The philanthropic programs were medical business, education business, orphanage and nursing home operation business. Social reform movement includes activities of independent association, feminization, enlightenment movement, anti-Japanese movement. These two trends have emerged as a big trend of Christian social welfare tradition and social mission tradition in the future, and it shows that the theological background, the condition of the church, and the program of social welfare. The Korean church was introduced to the community through the service of the church and charity in the real life of the congregation and served the poor. In other words, they tried to become neighbors to the underprivileged. It is also true that the early Korean church has played a leading role in the modernization of the country by accompanying overall cultural activities. As for the social activities through Christianity in the flowering period, we mainly engaged in projects such as new education, health care, youth work, cultural activities, women liberation movement, life improvement, health and hygiene education. In this way, the church mainly focused on modernization through social welfare practice. We will examine the history of church social welfare practice in Korean church history.
