영문 초록

Timber Certification(TC) was initiated by environmental consumers in developed countries who wanted to link between trade of tropical timber and deforestation. This system is that non governmental organizations(NGO) such as FSC(Forest Stewardship Council),WWF(World Wildlife Fund) certify sustainable management and production of timber. An important impact of TC would be to change the management of timber resources in timber producing countries. Thus a significant part of the commercial impact of TC would seem to be on the supply side. But, Timber Certification is also expected to have an impact on the demand side. In this study, the author explained the scheme of Timber Certification which was working in the developed countries and it s effects on the socio-economic, supply side and demand side and assumed the impacts on Korean wood - related industry which imported over than 95 percent of it s raw material. And the auther suggested that the furniture industry should prepare a system for timber certification because green consumers will be more sensitive for furniture industry than other wood-related industry in Korea.
