경북 울진의 海月軒 시문에 대한 연구

국문 초록

海月軒은 조선 중기의 문인인 黃汝一(1556~1622)이 지금의 경북 울진군 箕城面 沙洞里에 세운 별당이자 누정이다. 이 누정은 車天輅, 李恒福, 李廷龜, 李山海, 李睟光, 郭鍾錫 등 조선 중후기의 여러 명사들이 제영시와 기문을 남긴 곳이다. 본고는 이 시문의 작가와 작가별 창작 경위, 작품 세계를 살펴본 것이다. 해월헌 제영시와 기문은 해월헌의 첫 번째 주인인 황여일 생전에 집중적으로 창작되었다. 황여일은 평해를 비롯한 그 인근 지역의 퇴계학파 문사들과 사우관계를 맺었고, 중앙 정계에 진출한 이후로 당대의 저명한 문장가, 시인들과 교류하였다. 황여일은 1588년 10월에 해월헌을 완공하고서 이들 知人에게 제영시와 기문의 창작을 적극 요청하였다. 또 지인들이 강원도에 지방관으로 왔을 때 해월헌을 방문하여 제영시를 남기기도 하면서 해월헌 시문은 창작량이 늘어나게 된다. 그러나 황여일의 아들 黃中允 이후로 후손들이 出仕에 뜻을 두지 않고 고향에 머물면서 私樓인 해월헌에는 그 후손의 지인들과 울진 현령 등 일부 지인들만이 제영시를 남겼다. 작품 세계는 크게 해월헌의 풍광을 묘사한 작품과 ‘海’와 ‘月’의 명칭을 통해 이치를 탐구한 작품, 황여일 사후 후인들이 해월헌의 옛 주인을 회고한 작품으로 구분하여 살폈다. 그 결과 해월헌은 조선 중기 이후 많은 문인들이 주변의 아름다운 풍광을 감상하거나 문학적 상상력을 마음껏 펼친 공간이었고, 哲理的 사유를 통해 學德을 증진시키고 삶의 자세를 배우고자 한 공간이었으며, 후인들이 해월헌의 옛 주인인 황여일의 깊은 사유와 憂國의 풍모를 회고하며 고인과 교감을 이룬 공간이었음을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

Haewolheon was a separate house and a pavilion built by Hwang Yeo-il (黃汝一) in Sadong-ri, Giseong-myeon, Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province in middle Joseon. Prominent figures in middle and late Joseon including Cha Cheon-ro(車天輅), Lee Hang-bok(李恒福), Lee Jeong-gu(李廷龜), Lee San-hae(李山海), Lee Su-gwang(李睟光), and Gwak Jong-seok(郭鍾錫) created poetry and prose about the pavilion. This study examine the authors of these poetry and prose, creative processes, and the literary worlds. Poetry and prose about Haewolheon were created during the life of Hwang Yeo-il, Haewolheon s first owner. He formed relations with writers and scholars of the Toigye School(退溪學派) in Pyeonghae(平海) and the surrounding areas. Since he entered the central politics, he rubbed shoulders with prominent figures of the times. He completed the construction of Haewolheon in October, 1588 and actively asked them to create poetry and prose about it. Some of them visited Haewolheon as a local official of Gangwon Province and left poetry about it. As a result, the amount of poetry has increased. However, after Hwang s death, while most of his descendants stayed in their hometowns without going into government service, only some acquaintances visited Haewolheon. The literary worlds about Haewolheon were divided into the description of it’s landscape, inquiries into the philosophical reason through the names of “sea(海)” and “moon(月)”, and recollections of it’s first owner by later generations. These findings indicate that Haewolheon was a space where a lot of literary figures appreciated the beautiful scenery of its surroundings and exercised their literary imagination, a place where scholars promoted virtue and learned the attitude of life through philosophical thinking, and a venue where later generations recollected on Hwang s profound thinking and patriotism.
