국문 초록

우리나라의 감사환경에서는 감사인은 감사위험, 나아가 소송위험에 대한 인식이 낮은 것으로 보인다. 이러한 낮은 소송위험 인식은 외국에 비해 현저히 낮은 것으로 보고된 우리나라의 감사보수 수준에 대한 한 가지 설명요인이 될 수도 있을 것이다. 여기서 투자자의 소송성향이 소송위험에 대한 감사인의 인식에 영향을 줄 것이므로 감사인의 낮은 소송위험 인식은 투자자의 낮은 소송성향에서 기인할 것이다. 즉 낮은 소송성향은 감사인으로 하여금 자신의 배상책임손실을 낮게 평가하게 하고 이것은 다시 낮은 감사보수를 청구하게 하는 것이다. 이 연구는 국내의 감사인이 국내의 소송문화와 전혀 다른 소송성향을 가진 투자자 집단에 대한 배상책임에 노출된 경우에 소송위험에 대한 인식이 달라지는지 분석하였다. 이를 위해 피감사인이 해외의 자본시장에서 유가증권을 발행함으로써 국내 뿐 아니라 해외의 투자자에게도 배상책임이 노출된 경우에 청구되는 감사보수를 살펴본다. 연구결과에 따르면 소송성향이 다른 투자자 집단에 대한 배상책임에 노출된 감사인은 소송위험에 대한 인식이 달라졌으며 감사보수를 할증하였다.

영문 초록

The auditor seems to be insensitive to audit risk furthermore to litigation risk in Korean auditing environment. This insensitiveness to litigation risk seems to be reasonable explanation of Korea s relatively low audit fee level(Choi and Joo 1998). The auditor s risk insensitiveness would resulted from investor s litigation insensitiveness because the investor s litigiosity would influence the risk recognition of auditor. That is, low litigiosity would make auditor be insensitive to his litigation liability, thus by turn making auditor charge low fee. This paper examined whether there exist difference in auditor s litigation risk sensitiveness when he exposed to investors who have completely different litigiosity. For this purse, I investigated audit fee charging to auditee who are liable to foreign investors as well as Korean investors by issuing securities in foreign capital market. According to the result, I was able to confirm that the auditor who are exposed to more litigious investors group is more sensitive to litigation risk and charged risk premium.
