한국 고전 詩文의 『關雎』 이미지

국문 초록

본고는 한국문인들의 詩文에서 나타난 『詩經』 周南 關雎 이미지에 대해 고찰하였다. 기존 연구에서 문인의 『시경』론 연구가 주로이고 개별 작품 연구도 작품론에 치중했던 한계에서 벗어나 古典詩文에서 표현된 『관저』 이미지를 婦德․正始․風敎 등을 중심으로 다루었다. 부덕의 이미지는 國王의 聖德과 后妃의 德을 망라한 美意 내지 善意로 표현되고, 正始 이미지는 바른 혼인의 시작이 治國으로 이어지며, 풍교의 이미지는 부덕과 정시의 뜻을 함축한 『관저』를 널리 교화해야 한다는 뜻으로 나타났다. 기타에서는 『관저』의 구절에서 窈窕․淑女․琴瑟․鐘鼓․輾轉․河州 등을 원용 또는 변용한 시문을 살펴보았다. 이런 詩語 역시 『관저』를 뜻하기도 하고 파생적인 의미로 쓰이기도 하였다. 이처럼 한국인의 시문에서 『관저』만큼 다양한 이미지로 주목받은 『시경』 작품은 흔치 않음을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 문인들이 『관저』에 주목하게 된 원인을 인륜의 바른 시작의 전범, 中和의 전형으로 인식한 점과 주자성리학의 유입 및 해당 시기의 문화배경 내지 학술성향과 관련시켜 분석하였다. 요컨대 『관저』는 주로 人倫의 正始로, 萬福의 근원으로, 邦國에 유리한 작품으로 인식했기 때문에 특히 문인의 관심을 초래한 것으로 사료된다.

영문 초록

This paper aims to conduct a research on the image of “Gwanjeo(關雎)” from “the Book of Odes(詩經)-JuNam(周南)” in the poetry and prose of Korean writers. In the previous research, the study was mainly focused on the theory of the Book of Odes which is also including the study of individual works. Therefore, this paper mainly deals with the image of “Gwanjeo” expressed in Classic poetry and prose focused on “women virtue(婦德)”, “the right root(正始)” and “education of public morals(風敎)”. The image of “women virtue” is expressed in royal virtue of the king and the queen which is implying good intention and faith. The image of “the right root” is expressed in the proper beginning of marriage which is connected to governing a country. “Education of public morals” image is indicated that “Gwanjeo” which has both “women virtue” and “the right root” should be widely spread in public. In “others section, it is observed that the poetry and prose which used original or diversified Yojo(窈窕), Sungnyeo(淑女), Geumsil(琴瑟), Jonggo(鐘鼓), Jeonjeon(輾轉), Haju(河州). These words are also represent “Gwanjeo” and used in a derivative sense. Noting for the various images of “Gwanjeo”, it is uncommon in Korean poetry and prose which has drawn attention for the Book of Odes. Finally, it analyzed the reason why “Gwanjeo” is paid attention by Korean writers in relation to several aspects which including the recognition for “Gwanjeo” as the model of the right beginning human morality and neutralizaion(中和), as well as the influx of the Zhuxi Neo-Confucianisim, cultural background and academic tendency of the relevant period. In a word, “Gwanjeo” were perceived primarily as works about the beginning of human morality, the root of all happiness and favorable to the country(邦国).
