국문 초록

위관 윤충하는 일찍이 거창을 떠나 서울에 체류하며 일제의 야만적 침략과 국권 침탈에 시종일관 ‘死而後已’ 정신으로 무장하여 항거한다. 더욱이 대한 자강회․교남학회에 참여하여 애국계몽운동에 매진했을 뿐 아니라, 최익현의 의병에 관여하고 을사오적 암살계획에 가담하는 등 의병․의혈투쟁에도 적극적으로 동참하며, 태극교 창립의 주축으로 파리장서사건과 고종위호복원운동을 주도한 바 있다. 한 마디로 위관의 삶은 일제의 야만적 침략과 국권 침탈에 맞선 끊임없는 투쟁과 항거의 살아있는 역사이다. 반면 투쟁과 항거의 역사로 점철된 삶과는 달리, 위관의 문학 세계는 개인적이고 인간적인 이면이 포착되며, 그 층위도 매우 다양하다. 떠나온 고향을 그리워하고 가족에게 대한 미안한 감정을 표현한 작품도 있고, 일제의 국권 침탈을 맞은 상황에서 망국의 슬픔과 현실의 절망을 담담한 필치로 절제하여 표현한다. 일제 침략에 맞서 투쟁․항거하다 먼저 세상을 떠난 동지를 추모한 글에는 生死苦樂을 함께 한 동지로서 知己를 잃은 슬픔이 묻어난다. 또한 가족을 고향에 두고 서울에 체류하던 위관은 가족의 죽음을 맞아 지난날을 회상하고, 동일한 문구와 구절을 반복적으로 사용하여 슬픔과 아쉬움, 안타까움을 극대화한다. 이러한 위관의 문학 세계는 당시 일제에 맞서 투쟁․항거한 우국지사의 상황을 대변하고 있다.

영문 초록

Yun Chungha left Geochang in his early years and stayed in Seoul when he steadfastly resisted against the barbarous invasion and plunder of the country and national sovereignty by the Japanese imperialism throughout his life, armed with the spirit of Only with death does his course stop . Moreover, he not only took part in Gyonam Society, Daehan Jaganghoe to strive to stage a patriotic enlightenment movement but also engaged in mobilizing a volunteer army led by Choi Ikhyun, and orchestrated the Paris Jangseo Incident and a movement to restore the dignity of King Gojong as one of the key members of Taegeukgyo religion. In short, Wigwan’s life is a living history of relentless struggles and resistance against the brutal Japanese invasion and plunder. Unlike his life marked by a checkered history of fight and resistance, his literary world portrays his personal and humanistic aspects with a wide variety of horizons. Some of his works express nostalgia of his hometown and his apologetic feelings to his family while others depict Japanese invasion of sovereignty as well as he his sorrow of ruined country and despair of reality under the circumstance of stripped sovereignty with a moderately composed stroke. His writing commemorating comrades who passed away while fighting and resisting against the Japanese Invasion portrays the sadness of losing soul friends and comrades who shared life and death, joy and sorrow. In addition, Wigwan who stayed in Seoul after leaving his family in his hometown recalled his past days in the face of the death of his family members and maximized his sense of sadness, regret and frustration by using the same expressions and phrases in a repeated manner.
