국문 초록

凝窩 李源祚(1792~1871)는 순조 9년(1809) 18세의 어린 나이로 문과에 급제한 다음, 영남 학자로는 보기 드물게 경주부윤․한성판윤․공조판서 등 고위 관직을 역임하며 고종 8년(1871) 세상을 떠날 때까지 약 60여 년이나 관직에 종사하였던 인물이다. 그는 이처럼 19세기 영남지역을 대표하는 관료였지만 동시에 수많은 작품을 창작한 문인이기도 하였다. 특히 한시의 경우 전체가 3,000수를 상회하는데, 그 가운데 창작 방법과 관련하여 차운의 형식을 활용한 시가 적지 않다는 점을 한 가지 특징으로 지적할 만하였다. 차운은 상대방 시의 운목은 물론 운자와 그 적용 부위까지 동일하게 준수하면서 짓는 방식으로 상대방 시의 운자가 절대적인 기준으로 작용한다는 점에서 짓기가 여간 까다로운 게 아니었지만, 이런 얼마간의 제약에도 불구하고 한시를 창작하는 주요 방식 가운데 하나로 널리 확산되면서 국내 문단에 일정한 창작 문화를 형성하였다. 본고는 이런 점에 주목하여 응와의 시세계를 탐구하는 작업의 일환으로 『凝窩集』에 수록된 차운시의 현황을 간략하게 살펴본 다음, 차운시 운용의 구체적 양상과 특징을 검토하였다. 검토 결과 응와는 차운의 형식을 시 짓기에 적극 활용하여 첫째, 상대방 시의 운자의 제약을 극복하면서 지적 쾌감을 만끽하고 창작에 대한 욕구를 실현하였는가 하면 둘째, 상대방 시의 형식에 최대한 가깝게 하여 친밀감을 표시하면서 서로 간 유대를 도모하였으며 셋째, 때로는 시공 너머에 있는 고인과 교통하며 신세를 한탄하기도 지친 마음을 달래기도 하였던 것을 확인하였다. 요컨대 이는 단순히 운자만 빌려 쓰는 차원을 넘어 문자를 통해 시재를 아낌없이 발휘하고 사회적으로 교유하였으며 또 내면의 문제를 해결하려했던 타고난 시인의 모습에 다름 아니었다.

영문 초록

Eungwa(凝窩) Lee Won-jo(李源祚, 1792~1871) passed the state examination at the young age of 18 in the King Sunjo(純祖) 9 years(1809), after he served in high-ranking government positions, such as the Gyeongju-Buyun, Hansong-Panyun and Gongjo-Panseo, that was rare for a Yeongnam scholar. He spent about 60 years in public office until he passed away in the King Gojong(高宗) 8 years(1871). He was a representative government official of the Yeongnam region in the 19th century, but he was also a literary writer who created numerous works. In particular, in the case of Chinese poetry, the total number of poems exceeds 3,000. Among them, it was worth pointing out that numbers of poems were made using the form of rhyme-borrowing[次韻] in relation to the method of creation. The form of rhyme-borrowing[次韻] is written by following the same rules, not only the other’s rhyme category but also rhyming word and application part, so it is very difficult to write in that the rhyming words of the other party’s poetry act as an absolute standard. But, despite such some restrictions, it spread widely as one of the main ways of creating Chinese poetry, it has formed a certain culture of creation in the Korean literary world. Considering this point, this paper examined the whole of the rhyme-borrowing poems contained in 『Eungwajib(凝窩集)』 as part of researching the poetic worlds of Eungwa. After, this paper reviewed the specific aspects and characteristics of the operation in the rhyme-borrowing poem. Through this process, it was confirmed that Eungwa used the form of rhyme-borrowing in writing a poem. The contents are as follows. First, he enjoyed his intellectual pleasure and realized his desire for creation by overcoming the limitations of the other’s rhyming word. Second, he planned relation with each other by expressing intimacy through as close as possible to the form of the other’s poems. Third, he lamented his misfortune and healed his tired heart by interacting feelings with them who were beyond time and space. In short, simply more than borrowing the rhyming words, he was a natural poet who showed his poetic talent and associated with the other person socially through poems, also he tried to solve inner problems.
