EPG 왜곡 과제에 대한 예비 및 현직 언어재활사들의 청지각 능력

국문 초록

배경 및 목적: 임상 현장에서 말문제는 대부분 청지각적 평가로 이루어지므로 말소리에 대한 치료사의 ‘민감한 귀’는 언어재활사들이 갖추어야 할 필수적인 조건 중 하나일 수밖에 없다. 본 연구에서는 언어재활사를 준비하고 있거나 현재 활동중인 언어재활사들을 대상으로 왜곡된 말소리에 대한 청지각적 판단 능력을 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 언어치료 전공 실습생, 경력 5년 미만 또는 이상의 언어재활사 각각 20명씩 총 60명의 평가자들은 청지각 평가의 인식에 관한 설문 및 청지각 판단 실험 과제에 참여하였다. 청지각과제는 /ㅅ/의 정조음과 왜곡된 조음(치간음화, 경구개음화, 설측음화)을 들려주고 해당 말소리를 보기에서 선택하는 방식이었다. 과제에 사용된 말소리 샘플은 전자구개도(EPG)를 사용하여 제작하였으며, 30개 문항을 문맥(ㅏ/ㅜ)과 언어단위(1음절/2음절/문장)를 달리하여 제시하였다. 결과: 평가자들은 설문 결과와 동일하게 청지각과제에서도 치간음화를 가장 잘 지각하였으며, 설측음화 지각에 가장 어려움을 보였다. 또한, 문맥과 언어단위에 따른 오류율 비교 결과, 모든 왜곡 형태를 /ㅜ/문맥에서 더 잘 지각하였으며, 왜곡 형태별 반응양상에서는 치간음화와 경구개음화를 정반응으로 지각하는 경우가 가장 많았던 반면 설측음화는 ‘정조음’으로 판단한 경우가 가장 많았다. 논의 및 결론: 본 연구를 통해 언어재활사들을 위한 보다 적극적인 청지각 훈련이 필요하다는 것을 확인하고, 청지각 훈련의 수단으로서 전자구개도의 활용가능성을 기대한다.

영문 초록

Objectives: In a clinical setting, a ‘trained ear’ is the essentials for speech-language pathol-ogists (SLPs) because most SLPs rely on the auditory - perceptual method during assess-ment and treatment for speech difficulties. However, transcribing distortion errors using only auditory-perceptual judgement is a difficult task. This study investigated the auditory-perceptual ability in terms of distortion errors for pre and present SLPs. Methods: Sixty pre and present SLPs completed a survey, then performed a perceptual judgement task which was manufactured by electropalatography (EPG). The task consisted of 30 questions, in-cluding distorted (dentalized, palatalized, lateralized) and normal speech samples of Ko-rean fricative /s/ with different types of vowels (/ɑ/, /u/) and lengths (1-syllabled, 2- sylla-bled, sentence). Results: There was no significant difference in the distortion task among three groups. All participants had the highest score in “dentalization”, the lowest in “lateral-ization”, and all distortion types were perceived better in the /u/ context than /ɑ/. Also, SLPs tended to judge “lateralization” errors as “normal articulation” and many of the participants perceived “palatalization” as “lateralization”. Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that active auditory training for SLPs is necessary to improve auditory perceptual ability, and suggests that EPG could be a useful instrument for the auditory training program.
