국문 초록

본 논문은 마태 10,26-33에서 “두려워하지 마라” 표현의 기능에 관한 주석학적-신학적 연구이다. 파견 설교(9,35-11,1) 안에서도 가장 중심부에 위치하는 10,26-33에서 “두려워하지 마라” 표현은 예수님의 입을 통해서 직접 세 번에 걸쳐 반복적으로 사용되면서(26.28.31절) 본문 전체를 이끌며 예수님의 주요 메시지들을 전달한다. “두려워하지 마라”는 표현은 문자 그대로는 예수님의 제자들을 향한 위로와 안심의 의미를 담고 있지만, 표현이 사용된 본문에 대한 이해와 전후 문맥의 세밀한 분석을 통해서 이 표현의 더욱 심오하고 다양한 기능들을 발견할 수 있다. 제 1장에서는 10,26-33 본문의 전이해로 먼저 본문의 위치와 경계 설정 그리고 구조를 설명한다. 제 2장에서는 “두려워하지 마라” 표현의 기능을 파악하기 위하여 본문의 세밀한 주석을 시도하고, 이를 바탕으로 제 3장에서는 “두려워하지 마라”의 다양한 기능들을 확인한다. 이를 통해서 발견된 “두려워하지 마라” 표현의 기능은 “선포를 위한 기능”, “하느님 앞에서 올바른 자리를 인식하기 위한 기능”, “제자들과 하느님 사이의 관계를 이해하기 위한 기능”(관계적 측면에서의 기능) 그리고 “예수님을 증언하기 위한 기능”(종말론적 측면에서의 기능) 등이 있다. “두려워하지 마라” 표현은 제자들이 박해 속에서도 예수님의 말씀을 선포하고, 하느님을 경외하며, 하느님의 돌봄과 자신들의 소중함을 깨달음으로써, 마침내 사람들 앞에서 예수님을 당당히 증언하여 영원한 생명으로 나아가도록 초대한다. 동시에 이 표현은 오늘날 세상의 도전과 어려움 속에서 예수님의 제자로 살아가는 신앙인들에게도 큰 울림을 준다.

영문 초록

This article is an exegetical-theological study on the function of the expression “Do not be afraid” in Mt 10,26-33. This passage is located at the center of the missionary discourse(9,35-11,1). The expression “Do not be afraid” is used repeatedly three times by Jesus(10,26.28.31). In the whole episode, this expression delivers the main messages of Jesus. While the expression “Do not be afraid” literally means encouragement and reassurance toward Jesus’ disciples, a through understanding of the text and a detailed analysis of the context before and after the text, we can discover more profound and diverse functions of this expression. As a preliminary analysis for the exegesis of the text, the first chapter attempts to examine the position, boundary setting and structure. In the second chapter, a detailed exegesis of the text seeks to understand the function of the expression “Do not be afraid”. Based on this, the third chapter presents various functions of “Do not be afraid”, such as “function for proclamation”, “function for knowing the right position toward God”, “function for understanding the relationship between disciples and God”(relational function), and “function to testify of Jesus”(eschatological function). The expression “Do not be afraid” invites the disciples to proclaim Jesus’ words in the persecution and fear of the Lord. Moreover, it calls the disciples to realize God’s boundless care for them and their preciousness in the eyes of God. This expression leads them to witness Jesus in front of people and finally to the eternal life. Furthermore, the expression “Do not be afraid” invites today’s disciples of Jesus who are living in this challenging and difficult time.
