분수 연산에 관한 예비교사의 교수 내용 지식 분석

국문 초록

최근 강조되고 있는 교사의 교수 내용 지식과 관련하여 분수의 특정 내용 지식에 관한 연구는 많지만 분수 연산과 관련하여 학생 이해 지식과 교수 방법 지식을 면밀하게 분석한 연구는 부족하다. 이에 본 연구는 분수의 사칙연산 전체를 대상으로 두 가지 지식을 상세하게 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 예비교사들은 초등학생들의 덧셈-뺄셈 오류, 통분 오류, 약분 오류는 잘 이해하고 있었으나, 상대적으로 변환 오류, 역수 오류, 분수 구성의 오류에 대해서는 잘 이해하지 못하였다. 또한 분수의 곱셈과 나눗셈의 지도 계열에 대해서 매우 취약한 지식을 가지고 있었고, 승수와 제수가 분수인 경우 개념적인 설명보다는 알고리즘에 의존하는 경우가 많았는데, 이 역시 원리보다는 계산 방법만을 설명하는 경우가 많았다. 이런 측면에서 본 연구는 예비교사교육에서 학생들의 다양한 오류 유형과 원인 및 대처 방안, 분수 지도계열에 대한 논의, 연산의 의미와 알고리즘의 이해 등에 대한 시사점을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to identify prospective elementary teachers pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) about fraction calculation. A questionnaire was developed in order to explore both prospective teachers knowledge of students understanding and their knowledge of instructional methods on the topic of fraction calculation. A survey was implemented to a total of 187 juniors in 3 universities. This paper illustrated prospective teachers strengths and weaknesses with regard to their specific knowledge. As the result of analysis, prospective elementary teachers understood well about addition-subtraction error, error of reduction of fractions to a common denominator, and error of reduction of a fraction. However, they revealed poor understanding about transformation error, reciprocal error, and error of fraction - construction. The teachers also had weak knowledge of the learning sequences about multiplication and division of fraction. When asked how to explain fraction calculation to students, the teachers had a tendency to use the common algorithm of fraction calculation rather than conceptual illustration, in particular for the case that the multiplier or the divisor is fraction. The paper included implications for teacher preparation program with regard to students various types of errors and their reasons, learning sequence about fraction calculation, and the meaning of fraction and understanding of algorithm.
