예비 초등교사가 생각하는 작은 생물에 대한 이미지, 연상 용어, 우리 생활과의 관계

국문 초록

본 연구는 예비 초등교사들이 주변의 작은 생물과 인간의 생활에 미치는 영향에 대하여 어떻게 생각하고 있는지 조사하였다. 작은 규모의 생물과 미생물에 관한 연상 용어 및 이미지, 이로움과 해로움에 대한 인식을 조사하기 위해 교육대학 재학생 215명이 설문에 참여하였다. 초등학교 과학과 교육과정에서 다루는 작은 생물을 대상으로 떠오르는 이미지와 연상 단어를 선택하고 서술하도록 구성된 검사 도구를 활용하여, 예비 초등교사들이 선택한 연상 용어와 이미지의 빈도 및 경향성을 분석하였다. 그리고 참여자들의 선택 이유 및 작은 생물과 우리 생활과의 관계에 대해 어떻게 답변하였는가에 주목하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 연구대상 예비 초등교사들은 우리 생활에서 활용되는 미생물보다 작은 규모의 동식물을 작은 생물의 이미지로 생각하는 빈도가 높았다. 연상 용어는 특정한 생물명과 포괄적인 명칭이 많았으며, 우리 생활과의 관계에 대한 긍정적인 영향을 다양한 측면에서 서술하지는 못하였다. 작은 생물과 우리 생활과의 관계에 대한 이해는 학년 간 유의한 차이가 있었다. 주변의 생물이 우리 생활에 미치는 영향이 다양함을 인식할 수 있도록 맥락적인 상황을 활용하여 교육할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate what elementary school pre-service elementary school teachers think about circumjacent small organisms and their influence on human life. Two hundred fifteen students of J Teachers college were participated in the questionnaire to investigate the conceptions and images of both small-sized organisms and microbes. Using a developed test instrument consisted of beneficialness and detrimentality of the organisms, we analyzed frequency and tendency of terms and images the pre-service teachers had chosen, and concentrated how the participants answered about their selections and understandings on the relationship between small organisms and human life. As a result, many of the participants answered small-sized organisms as small organisms, whereas few of them answered applications of microbes. In addition, most of them couldn t describe beneficial aspects of the microbes variously. There was a significant difference between 1st and 3rd graders in understanding the relationship of small organisms and human life. It is necessary to be educated pre-service elementary school teachers about small organisms contextually including the relationships in human life.
