유아교사의 문화성향이 다문화수용성에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아교사의 문화성향, 공감, 다문화감수성이 다문화수용성에 미치는 영향을 알아보고, 문화성향과 다문화수용성의 관계에서 공감 및 다문화 감수성의 매개효과를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 유아교사 167명을 대상으로 설문조사를 수행하였으며, 수집된 자료는 중다회귀분석, 위계적 회귀분석, Sobel 검정을 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 유아교사의 문화성향, 공감, 다문화감수성은 다문화수용성에 직접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 문화성향의 하위변인 중 수평적 집단주의와 수직적 개인주의 그리고 수평적 개인주의, 공감의 하위변인 중 인지적 요소, 다문화감수성의 하위변인중 상호작용 참여도와 문화차이 존중도가 다문화수용성에 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 문화성향과 다문화수용성의 관계에서 공감 및 다문화감수성은 부분매개효과를 나타냈다. 본 연구결과를 통하여 문화성향, 공감, 다문화감수성이 다문화수용성에 미치는 직접적 영향력을 확인하였으며, 문화성향과다문화수용성의 관계에서 공감 및 다문화감수성의 부분매개효과를 실증적으로 검증함으로써 공감및 다문화감수성의 교육적 중재의 가능성을 제시하였다. 또한 문화성향이 다문화수용성을 포함한여러 다문화 관련 특성을 설명하는 주요 변인임을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine how empathy and multicultural sensitivity influence relationships between cultural orientation and multicultural acceptability. For this purpose, a survey of 167 early childhood teachers was conducted and analyzed. The results of the study are as follows. First, early childhood teachers’ cultural orientation, empathy, and multicultural sensitivity influenced multicultural acceptability. Among cultural orientation’s sub-variables, horizontal collectivism, vertical individualism and horizontal individualism influenced multicultural acceptability. Among empathy’s sub-variables, a cognitive component influenced multicultural acceptability. Among multicultural sensitivity’s sub-variables, interaction engagement and respect for cultural differences influenced multicultural acceptability. Second, empathy and multicultural sensitivity have a partial mediating effect in the relationship between cultural orientation and multicultural acceptability. This study demonstrated the partially mediated effects of empathy and multicultural sensitivity on the relationships of cultural orientation and multicultural acceptability. As such, the results of the study address the importance of educational intervention for empathy and multicultural sensitivity. It also implies that cultural orientation is a major variable for explaining several multicultural characteristics, including multicultural acceptability.
