유대교 아가다(Aggadah) 성경해석 전통의 한국교회 적용 방안 고찰

국문 초록

유대교 안에는 전통적으로‘할라카(Halakhah)’와‘아가다(Aggadah)’라는 양대 해석 산맥이 자리하고 있다. 할라카는 율법을 해석한 것으로서 엄격하고 획일적인 성격을 지니고 있는데 반해, 아가다는 율법 외의 이야기들 즉, 신화, 정사, 설화 등 랍비가 전해주는 비율법적 해석으로서 다양성과 유연성을 띠고 있다. 본 연구는 유대교의 두 해석 전통 중에서‘아가다’방식을 한국교회에 접목하여 성경해석의 지평을 넓히는 데 일조하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 유대교는 지난날 수많은 민족적 비극을 겪으면서도 두 해석 전통 간의 상호 견제 및 보완 기능을 견지해오고 있다. 이를 통해 그들은 위기 때마다 그 시대의 다양한 문화와 철학 등을 겸허히 수용하여 아가다적인 성경해석을 내림으로써 그 상황을 지혜롭게 극복할 수 있었다. 이러한 유대교의 해석전통은 오늘날의 한국교회에 시사하는 바가 매우 크다고 생각한다. 현재 한국교회는 동성애 문제, 빈곤문제, 한반도 안보 등 안팎으로 해결해야 할 많은 과제를 안고 있다. 이러한 시대적 요청에 부응하기 위한 하나의 방법으로서 기존의 신학자와 목회자 등 교회 엘리트 중심의 보편적 성경해석 전통과 병행하여 모든 교회 구성원들이 동참하는 아가다 방식의 새로운 해석담론의 전통을 수립할 필요가 있다고 본다. 한국교회 130년 이상의 역사와 함께 성경에 대한 성도들의 지적 수준도 정비례적으로 높아졌다. 이제는 성도 스스로 영적 통찰력과 시적 상상력을 동원하여 마음껏 해석의 나래를 펼 수 있도록 필요한 환경을 조성해 줘야 한다고 사료된다. 본고는 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 한국교회 안에 널리 확산되고 있는‘통큰통독’이라는 성경통독 프로그램을 유대교의 아가다 성경해석 전통에 접목하는 작업을 시도하였다. 연구의 초점은 통큰통독의 핵심 내용인‘세 가지 관점’과‘세 가지 개념’이 유대교의 아가다 해석 전통과 어느 정도 부합하는지에 두었다. 그 결과, 통큰통독은 아가다 해석 전통과 일맥상통하는 부분이 매우 많다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었고, 한국교회 안에 아가다적 성경해석 전통을 세우는 데 있어서 아주 적합한 모델이라는 결론을 내릴 수 있었다. 유대교와 한국교회는 과거 역사를 통해 알 수 있듯이 하나같이 민족적 비극과 아픔을 경험하였고 그것을 되풀이하지 않기 위해 국가적·민족적 대안을 지속적으로 제시해야 한다는 막중한 책임을 부여받고 있다. 유대교는 지금도 유연성 있는 아가다 성경해석 전통을 통해 실현 가능한 방안들을 모색하고 있다. 한국교회도 성직자와 성도들이 모두 함께 성경 앞에 머리를 맞대고 허심탄회하게 해석 담론을 주고받을 수 있어야 한다고 생각한다. 그렇게 될 때, 한국교회는 개인의 영성은 물론, 민족적·국가적 현안을 해결하는 데 있어서 선도적인 역할을 감당할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

In Judaism, there are two major interpretation mountains, traditionally called ‘Halakhah’ and ‘Aggadah’. Halakhah as a interpretation of the Law, has a strict and uniform character, while Aggadah has diversity and flexibility as a non-law interpretation that rabbis tell stories other than the law, such as myths, histories, and tales. The purpose of this study is to help broaden the horizon of Bible interpretation by engrafting the Aggadah method between the two interpretation traditions of Judaism to the Korean church.At present, the Korean church has many tasks to solve both inside and outside, such as the issues of homosexuality, poverty, and security on the Korean peninsula and so on. In order to cope with these challenges, I believe that it is necessary to establish a new tradition of interpretation discourse in the Aggadah way that all members of the church participate in parallel with the universal interpretation tradition centered on church elites such as theologians and pastors. The history of the Korean church has been over 130 years, and the saints level of Scripture has greatly increased in proportion to that. Therefore, it is necessary to provide them with an environment where they can do free interpretation by using spiritual insight and poetic imagination.In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the ‘Tongkontongdok’, a biblical reading program widely spread in Korean churches that has been being introduced as a new model for the interpretation of the Bible was presented by engrafting it into the interpretation tradition of Aggadah in Judaism. This study in particular has been contemplated with an emphasis on the core contents of Tongkontongdok, ‘The three perspectives’ and ‘Three Concepts’ corresponding to the tradition of the Judaism interpretation.As a result, confirmed was that many parts of Tongkontongdok are in line with Aggadah interpretation tradition, and it was concluded that it is the very model suitable for implanting a new interpretation tradition on Korean churches.
