영지주의와 슈타이너의 인지학의 유사성에 대한 비판적 고찰

국문 초록

우리나라 사회의 물질주의적 가치의 팽배는 인간의 비인간화와 입시위주의 비교육적 환경 그리고 병리적 현상을 낳았다. 이를 해결하기 위한 방안으로 대안교육이 대두가 되었고 그 가운데서도 슈타이너의 인지학에 기초를 둔 발도르프교육에 대해 많은 연구가 이루어졌다. 그러나 슈타이너에 대한 대부분의 연구는 방법론에 치우치거나 슈타이너 연구의 다양한 영역에 대한 연구가 대부분이다. 이로 인해 발도르프교육의 기초가 되는 인지학(철학)에 대한 이해가 부족한 것이 현실이다. 따라서 슈타이너의 인지학의 철학적 배경에 대한 연구를 통해 인지학의 철학적 이해를 넓히고자 한다. 아울러 초대교회 시대에 기독교에 매우 위험한 존재였던 영지주의의 철학적 배경을 연구하고 인지학과의 유사성을 고찰함으로서 인지학의 위험성을 드러내고자 한다. 이를 통해 기독교인 교육자들의 발도르프교육에 대한 무분별한 교육적 실천에 반성적 고찰이 필요함을 지적하고자 한다.이러한 연구의 목적을 위해 영지주의와 인지학의 형성배경으로서 고대 밀의 종교, 신비주의와 헬라철학의 이원론적 영향, 불교와 기독교의 영향 등을 살펴보고 유사성을 도출하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영지주의와 인지학에는 혼합적인 세계관이 자리 잡고 있다. 둘째, 영지주의와 인지학 모두 밀의 종교와 신비주의 영향을 받아 신비한 체험이나 수행을 통해 영혼이 구원을 얻을 수 있다고 본다. 셋째, 불교의 영향을 받아 궁극적 실재를 통한 구원이 아니라 인간 자신의 깨달음을 통한 구원을 주장한다. 넷째, 헬라철학의 이원론적 영향과 신비주의의 영향으로 예수를 예수와 그리스도로 나누고 그리스도의 신성과 인성을 부정한다.

영문 초록

The surge of materialistic values in the Korean society has yielded dehumanization, environment unsuitable for education, and pathological phenomenon. As a solution, alternative education has come to the rise and much research has been conducted on Waldorf Education with its foundation on Steiner’s anthrosophy. However, most of research on Steiner focuses on methodology or practical research on the various areas of Steiner’s research. Hence, there is a lack of understanding on anthrosophy (philosophy), which is the foundation of the Waldorf Education. The current study aimed to explore the meaning of Steiner’s claim that stated that anthrosophy is the intensified form of Christianity through Steiner’s interpretation of Christianity. Gnostic components are implicated in Steiner’s interpretation of Christianity. To extract the similarities between Steiner’s anthrosophy and Gnosticism influences of Greek mythology, Greek philosophy, Buddhism, and perspectives on Christianity were examined. Through this, it point out that the rash practice of Waldorf education of Christian educator is in need reflective consideration. The results are extracted as follows: first, Gnosticism and anthrosophy hold mixed world view. Second, because of the influence of Greek mythology and mysticism, Gnosticism and anthrosophy insist that salvation is from mystical experience and self-discipline. Third, by the influence of Buddhism, Gnosticism and anthrosophy assert that salvation is from human’s realization, not from Ultimate Reality. Last, Gnosticism and anthrosophy influened by dualism of Greek philosophy and mysticism deny human nature and divine of Jesus and divide Jesus into Jesus and Christ.
