국문 초록

지금까지 종교 교과에서는 이를 통해 신앙교육을 위한 교과기반을 확보하고자 하였던 기독교학교와 다종교사회에 필요한 종교 문해력을 키우려했던 종교교육과정 입안자들 사이의 갈등이 심화되어왔다. 이에 본 연구는 이러한 문제를 해결하고자 교육과정 숙의(curriculum deliberation)방법을 통해 기독교학교의 관점에서 종교교과 개선을 위한 기본적인 신조(platform)를 구축하는 데에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 현행 종교 교육과정의 문제와 원인을 알아보고 이를 근거로 4가지의 종교 교과 교육과정 개선을 위한 신조를 다음과 같이 개발하였다. 1) 종교 교과 교육과정은 교육과정 실행자인 기독교학교의 필요에 근거하여 신앙교육의 교과기반이 되도록 종교 교과를 ‘종교와 생활/종교학’으로 바꾸어야 하고 2) 종교 교과의 ‘종교학’의 접근은 객관주의에서 현상학적 접근으로 바뀌어야 하며, 3) 기독교학교의 선교적 접근 역시 배타주의에서 학생들의 종교적 양심과 다른 종교를 배려하는 ‘계시적 특별주의’로 전환되어야하며 4) 교수학습의 측면에서도 학생들의 관심과 실제문제를 다룰 수 있도록 교리제시수준을 넘어서야한다 것 등이었다. 이를 기반으로 개선된 종교교육의 대안의 개요가 교육과정 목표, 편제와 내용, 그리고 지원체제 등으로 구분되어 제시되었다. 이러한 신조구축은 국가수준교육과정에서는 종교교육의 정상화를 위한 기초연구로서 의미를 가지며 학교교육과정수준에서는 기독교학교의 종교 교육실행에 대한 자기반성적인 기회를 제공하였다는 의의를 가진다고 하겠다.

영문 초록

Recently Korean religious education, which has been a subject for faith education at Christian schools, turned into the science of religion for religion literacy education in secular schools can be observed. The effect of this change is that Christian schools have lost a curricular basis for teaching their educational missions and goals, and worldview that whole school curriculum was based on. In this context, in order to restore the curriculum basis for Christian schools’ faith education, as well as for better religion literacy education in our religiously plural society, this study aims to develop a platform of curriculum development principles to solve the problems surrounding religious education. For this purpose, 1) the current situation and problems of religious education, both at the national curriculum level and school curriculum level, were examined, focusing on the 2011 and 2015 re-visions; 2) the cause of the problems was identified at both levels; 3) a platform for this RE improvement is developed at 4 points; 4) and finally ideas about an alternative to current religious education are described briefly. The developed platform includes the following: 1) RE curriculum should give options that schools can select from according their educational purpose, whether faith education-based or focused on the science of religion; 2) when centered around the science of religion, Ninian Smart’s phenomenological approach to religion is more appropriate for deep understanding of religion, rather than the objective approach; 3) missionary work at Christian schools should rely on Ott’s so-called ‘revealed specialism’ rather than on an exclusive strategy; 4) the instruction of RE teachers should apply religious doctrine to students’ concerns and their developmental tasks.
