‘PCK’ 교회교육 개혁을 위한 기독교교육적 제안

국문 초록

본 연구는 현재 대한예수교장로회통합측 (PCK: Presbyterian Church of Korea) 교단의 교회교육의 지속가능한 성장발달을 위한 하나의 제안을 하고자 진행된 것이다. 최근 수년간 기독교회에 대한 반감으로 인하여 그리스도인들이 타종교로 개종하거나 잠정적으로 교회를 나가는 등의 의도적 감소현상이 일어나고 있는 상황에서, 교회학교의 경우 부모들의 교회이탈에 영향을 받기도하고 더불어 인구감소 현상까지 일어난 결과 교회학교가 여러 요인으로 인해 수적으로 축소되고 있는 것이 사실이다. 교회학교의 감소 현상은 성인들이 교회를 떠나는 것과 다른 성격을 가진 것이라 보이지만 신앙이 삶과 생활에 의미 있는 영향력을 주지 못하고 있는 상황은 성인이나 학생들에게나 같은 상황이다. 떠나가고 있는 학생들 외에 교회교육에 참여하고 있는 학생들도 교회학교에 의미와 흥미를 가지고 참여하려는 의지는 소극적인 것을 볼 때 교회교육의 변화는 한국 교회의 위기극복을 위한 측면에서도, 교회의 미래를 희망적으로 바라보기 위한 측면에서도 필연적 과제라 할 수 있다. 이 글은 현재 교회교육의 문제를 학교라는 형식은 가지고 있지만 교육내용으로는 충분히 제공되지 못하고 있는 교육적 한계의 부분, 교육이 지나치게 교사에게 의존적이라는 부분, 교회학교 주체들의 관점이 이원론적으로 고정되어 있는 부분, 교회교육의 성장주의 사고, 그리고 교회교육이 다른 부분에 비해 비전문적으로 답보상태에 놓여 있는 점 등을 비판적으로 바라보면서 이에 대한 대안적 방식을 제안하고자 하는 글이다. 첫째로는 교회교육에 있어서 예배의 중요성을 인식하고 예배를 교육적인 측면에서 적극적으로 활용할 방식에 대하여, 둘째로는 교회교육 17년 기간을 반영한 커리큘럼 개발에 대한 제안을 하고 있다.

영문 초록

Over the years, the Christian population has been reduced due to the aversion of Christians to the Christian church. They convert to other religions or are leaving the church. Church schools are also influ-enced both by the departure of parents and the phenomenon of de-creasing Korean birthrate. The students who remain also do not seem to have an active interest in participating in Church education. Renewal of church schools is an indispensable goal in terms of over-coming the crisis of the Church and having future hope for Christian education. The need for change within Church education has been raised not only from the crisis of the Korean church but also from the spirit of Protestant Reformation called “ecclesia reformata semper re-formanda” which means the church reformed is always being reformed. I have pointed to several problems with Church education that can undergo changes. Firstly, church education does not have in-tegrity between the educational system and contents as ‘school.’ Church school is divided according to school age, but educational contents for students do not fit into the school system. Secondly, church education depends excessively on Sunday school teachers rather than cooperation between the various participants of church education. In addition to these two aspects, dualistic thinking, church growing, and non-professionalism of church school are critical prob-lems to be changed. These factors play a negative role in the current church school consistently. From these problems with the Church school, I have suggested a renewal of church education focusing on the utilizing of worship service as an important educational context and developing the 17 years curriculum from infant child to adoles-cent in the church school.
