국문 초록

오늘의 한국교회는 내적·외적 차원에서 다양한 위기와 도전에 직면해 있다. 교회학교의 양적 감소, 아동·청소년 대(對) 성인 교육의 이원화, 입시 교육의 악영향, 교육 현장의 분리와 왜소화, 신앙 정체성 형성 교육의 약화, 개혁 의식 양육 교육의 약화, 대화적·소통적 교육의 약화 등을 가장 중요한 위기와 도전으로 간주할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 이러한 현실을 염두에 두고 지역 교회를 위한 “공적 교육 공동체 모델”을 제안한다. 이는 지역 교회의 교육 현실을 하나님 나라의 통전성이라는 관점에서 비판적으로 인식하고 공적 실천신학의 입장에서 “공적 신앙”을 양육하는 교육 공동체 형성을 지향하는 대안적 교회교육 모델이다. 이를 위하여 먼저 성서적, 신학적 차원에서 하나님 나라의 개념을 화해와 치유의 생명 공동체라는 관점에서 고찰한다. 이어서 공적 교육 공동체로서 지역 교회의 모범 사례로 볼 수 있는 미국 워싱턴 D.C.에 위치한 세이비어교회의 교회교육(또는 교육목회)에 나타난 여러 특성들을 고찰한다. 이상의 두 가지에 기초하여 본 연구는 공적 교육 공동체 모델을 오늘의 한국교회가 직면한 교육적 위기에 대한 대안적 모델로 제시한다. 마지막으로 공적 교육 공동체로서의 지역 교회에 대한 평가지표를 제시하여 지역 교회의 교육에 실제적인 지침을 제공한다.

영문 초록

This study aims to propose a “model of public educational commun-ity” for contemporary Korean local churches that experience various internal and external educational crises and challenges. Among them the following are on the rise: decrease of church school membership; deepening dichotomy of the child seen as a learner and the adult as a teacher; vicious effects of college entrance exams; segregation of educational fields; lack of education for Christian identity formation, prophetic education, and dialogical or communicative education. This model seeks to critically evaluate and recognize the state of edu- cation in the current local churches from the perspective of integrity with respect to the kingdom of God, targeted at the educational com- munity that nurtures public faith. For this purpose, this study initially explores the biblical and theological concepts of the kingdom of God from the perspective that supports a living community of healing and reconciliation. It then examines the Church of Saviour s various edu-cational features and efforts commended as exemplary for fostering a public educational community. Based on the aforementioned under- standing of the kingdom of God and the example of the Church of Saviour, the study presents the public educational community as the alternative for educating contemporary Korean local churches. Finally, this study provides an index for evaluating the model of a public educational community that functions as a practical guideline for local churches.
