국문 초록

효과적인 성경교수는 단지 성경의 지식만을 전달하는 것이 아니라, 학습자들의 영적 성숙과 삶의 변화를 목적으로 한다. 중요한 것은 어떻게 성경을 효과적으로 가르치는가 하는 것이다. 사실 고대 성경의 세계와 지금 우리가 살고 있는 세계 사이에는 커다란 간극이 있다. 단지 시간적, 공간적 간극뿐 아니라, 문화, 관습, 언어, 생활양식, 가치관 등의 간극은 학습자들로 하여금 성경의 세계를 낯설게 만든다. 성경교사는 이 간극을 뛰어넘어, 성경말씀이 학습자들에게 진리로 전달되어 성경을 이해하고 인격적으로 믿으며 삶이 변화되도록 돕는 자이다. 이를 위해서는 보다 창조적인 성경교수방법이 필요하다. 기존에 행해오던 강의법은 교사중심의 일방적인 교수방법으로서, 학습자들의 자발적인 참여와 말씀의 적용을 통한 삶의 변화를 도출하기에는 역부족이다. 반면, 창조적인 성경교수방법은 학습자 중심의 교수방법으로서 발견학습의 원리를 따른다. 즉, 학습자의 관심에 초점을 맞추는 “초점”, 그들로 하여금 하나님이 성경에서 우리에게 주신 것을 발견하도록 돕는 “발견”, 그리고 그들로 하여금 하나님이 기대하는 것에 반응하도록 격려하는 “반응”이라는 세 단계를 따르는 것이다. 로렌스 리차즈(Lawrence O. Richards)는 이 원리에 기초하여 창조적인 성경교수방법을 제시하였다. 이는 HBLT 접근법으로서, “Hook(주의 끌기)-Book(주제 연구하기)-Look(적용점 찾기)-Took(실천사항 찾기)”의 네 단계로 구성된다. 먼저 학습자들의 관심을 그 날의 학습 주제에 초점이 맞춰지도록 유도하여 성경본문 속으로 끌어들인다. 그리고 귀납적 성경연구를 통하여 주의 깊게 성경본문을 연구하여 명확하게 본문을 이해하도록 돕는다. 다음으로는 이해된 본문이 실생활에 어떻게 적용될 수 있는지 함축된 의미를 탐구하도록 한다. 마지막으로 교사는 학습자들이 발견한 본문의 함의를 삶속에서 실천할 수 있도록 독려한다. 리차즈의 HBLT 접근법은 학습자들로 하여금 말씀을 단순히 지식적으로만 배우는 것이 아니라, 실제 삶속에서 말씀을 체험하고 이를 내면화하여 삶에 적용하도록 도움으로써, 학습자들의 영적 성숙과 삶의 변화를 이끌어내는 효과적인 성경교수방법이다. 무엇보다 유아부터 장년에 이르기까지 적용할 수 있는 창조적인 교수방법이다. 본 연구는 리차즈의 HBLT 접근법에 기초하여 교회학교에서 시행할 수 있는 창조적 교수-학습 모형을 설계하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이 모형은 교회학교에서 직접 실행되었던 것으로서, HBLT 접근법의 원리를 바탕으로 한 프로젝트 수업방법이다. 본 연구에서는 초등부(4-6학년) 학생들을 대상으로 구성된 공과 커리큘럼 중의 하나만을 제시하였지만, 실제로 이 수업모형을 실행하였을 때 교회학교 전 부서에서 많은 변화와 성장의 열매가 있었다. 먼저 공과에 임하는 학습자들의 태도가 적극적인 자세로 변화되었다. 다음으로 교사들 또한 책임 있고 훈련된 성경교사들로 성장할 수 있었다. 무엇보다 성경말씀이 학습자들과 교사들에게 진리로서 재인식되고, 삶속에서 체험되는 성령의 역사가 있었다. 물론 HBLT 접근법이 효과적 성경교수를 위한 유일한 방법은 아니다. 하지만, 학습자들로 하여금 성경의 세계로 들어가, 그 속에서 진리를 발견하고 그 진리 앞에 반응하도록 돕는데 있어 탁월한 성경교수방법이다. 따라서 개 교회에서 각 교회의 실정에 맞게 이를 재구성하여 수업을 계획하고 실행한다면, 학습자들의 성숙과 변화를 이끌어내는 효과적인 성경교수가 이루어지리라고 본다.

영문 초록

Effective Bible teaching is not just a simple delivery of information from the Bible, but has the goal of spiritual maturity and the changes of the students in their lives. There is a huge gulf between the ancient world of the Bible and the modern world. Not only the differences of time and space, but there are gaps in culture, custom, language, life style, and value system. Building a bridge over the vast difference, Bible teachers are to impart the truth of the Words and help the students understand the Bible, have personal faith, and change their lives. Lawrence O. Richards suggested the Creative Bible Teaching based on the principles of guided discovery learning. It consists of three steps: focusing on the students’ interests (Focus), helping them discover what God has given us in the Bible (Discovery), and encouraging them to respond to what God expects us to do (Response). This teaching method imply HBLT approach and are composed of four basic sections “Hook(gaining attention)–Book(studying the passage)-Look (implications of passage to life)-Took(application of truth to life).” First, the teacher gains attention of the students to focus on the passage of the day. Then, he seeks to clarify the meaning of the passage through inductive Bible study. Next, he applies the understood passage to daily living to discover the implications. Finally, he encourages the students to practice the implications in their lives. Richards’s HBLT approach is an effective Bible teaching method, leading students’ spiritual growth and the change of life. It is a creative teaching method that can be applied from preschoolers to adults. The purpose of this study is planning of creative teaching-learning model based on Richards’s HBLT approach that can be performed in the church school. Although only one Sunday school curriculum for the elementary school students (grades 4-6) is presented in this study, a lot of changes and growth are found in all departments of the church school when this model is actually performed. First, the attitudes of the students are changed positively. Next, the teachers also grow as responsible and trained Bible teachers. Most of all, the Words is reaffirmed as truth in the hearts of the students and teachers and they experience the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Of course, the HBLT approach cannot be the sole method for an effective Bible teaching. However, it is a creative and prominent Bible teaching method as it helps the students enter into the biblical world with curiosity and discover the truth there, and respond to the truth. Therefore, if each church reorganizes this teaching method and plans and performs it according to their own situation, an effective Bible teaching that leads to the maturity and change of the students should be possible.
