국문 초록

이 연구는 한국교육개발원의 ‘학교교육 실태 및 수준 분석’의 4주기 자료를 활용하여 구조방정식 모형으로 학생의 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀진 교사 및 부모의 역할 사이에서 인성이 주는 매개 효과를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 분석 결과 첫째, 부모의 역할, 가정배경, 교사의 역할은 모든 학교급에서 학생들의 인성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 초등학교와 중학교에서는 가정배경, 교사 및 부모의 역할과 태도가 인성을 매개로 학업성취도에 미치는 영향이 모두 긍정적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 고등학교 학생들의 경우 인성의 매개효과가 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과는 학업성취를 우선시하는 사회적 분위기에서도 학교에서 인성교육을 강조하고, 지속적으로 실시할 수 있는 근거를 제공하여 학생들의 인성 수준을 함양시키는 데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of character on the achievement of students by analyzing the mediating effect of the character between the role of the teacher and the parent that is found to affect the student s academic achievement. The results showed that parents role, family background, and teacher s role influenced students character at all school levels in elementary, middle, and high schools. Therefore, if teachers are more interested in student character education and teach students, it can be expected that children lacking character education at home will be able to cultivate character through school education. Second, in elementary and middle school students, the effects of family background, parent role and attitude, teacher role and attitude on academic achievement through character were all positive. In other words, the character education of students does not only affect character, but it can also affect the improvement of student s academic achievement. Finally, it was confirmed that mediation effect of character was not significant in high school. This result can be expected to be influenced by the pressure on academic achievement as a result of differences in the character development levels of junior high and high school students.
