국문 초록

청소년의 스마트폰 사용 빈도가 지속적으로 증가하면서 스마트폰 과의존에 노출된 청소년 역시 급속도로 증가하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 양육태도의 일관성, 스마트폰 사용 빈도(게임, 영상시청, 정보검색), 스마트폰 의존도와 학업열의 간 관계가 학교급에 따라 달라지는가를 탐색하였다. 이에 한국·아동청소년패널조사 2018 데이터 중 스마트폰을 사용하는 청소년 4,940명을 대상으로 다집단분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 양육태도의 일관성, 스마트폰 사용 빈도(영상시청, 정보검색), 스마트폰 의존도는 학업열의를 유의하게 예측했고, 스마트폰 의존도는 양육태도의 일관성, 스마트폰 사용 빈도(게임, 영상시청)와 학업열의 간 관계를 매개하였다. 또한, 초등학생 집단에서는 게임의 예측력, 중학생 집단에서는 영상시청의 예측력이 가장 높게 나타나 학교급에 따라 스마트폰을 사용하는 목적이 다르다는 것을 확인하였다. 이를 바탕으로, 본 연구에서는 학교급에 따른 스마트폰 사용 지도와 부모의 양육태도에 대한 시사점을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationships between consistency in parenting attitude, smartphone use (e.g., game, video, information), smartphone dependency, and academic engagement. We focused on exploring differences in the structural relationships by school level (i.e., primary vs. secondary school). We used the data of 4,940 teenagers from the 2018 Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey and conducted a multi-group structural equation modeling analysis. Results showed that consistency in parenting attitude, smartphone use, and smartphone dependency predicted academic engagement significantly. Smartphone dependency also mediated the relationship between consistency in parenting attitude, smartphone use purpose, and academic engagement. Results also showed that smartphone use (game) is the most significant factor that predicts smartphone dependency in primary school students, whereas smartphone use (video) is the most significant for secondary school students. Drawn on these results, we provided implications for research and practices on smartphone use and parenting attitude according to school level.
