조선의용대(군)의 항일음악 창작과 문화활동

국문 초록

1938년 10월 10일 중국 湖北省 漢口에서 창립한 조선의용대는 일제 침공으로 廣西省 桂林(로 거점을 옮겨 항일전선에 참전하는 한편, 대중들에게 항일사상 교육과 문화선전을 위해 항일음악을 만들고 널리 보급하였다. 민족혁명당의 간부이며 조선의용대 교관인 尹世冑는 군사훈련을 받는 대원들의 사기를 돋우기 위해 <최후의 결전>이란 곡을 편곡하였는데, 이후 조선의용군와 한국광복군에도 널리 불리우는 항일음악의 상징곡이 되었다. 저명한 항일 문필활동가인 李斗山이 1939년 작사·작곡한 노래 <先鋒隊>는 광복군 군가집에 실리어 널리 보급되었다. 桂林에 주둔한 조선의용대 대본대는 중국 당·정·군 간부들은 물론 지역주민들을 위한 각종 문화선전 활동을 적극 펼쳤다. 문화선전대에서 준비한 가극 <아리랑>과 <조선의 딸> 공연은 중국인들에게 큰 호응을 받으며 감명을 주었다. 또한 일본군포로를 초청해 연 다과회와 중국 군관학교 졸업식 행사에서 불려진 <일본반전가>와 <전기가> 등의 노래공연은 중국 언론을 통해 널리 알려졌다. 桂林에서 重慶으로 근거지를 옮기는 과정에서 대원들은 역사적인 항일음악을 다수 창작하였다. 이두산의 장남 李貞浩는 1940년 2월 행진 광경을 담은 노래 <중국의 광활한 대지 위에>를 발표해 만주 일대와 북한지역에까지 널리 보급하였다. 중국 국·공 내전의 위협 속에 화북으로 진출한 조선의용군 화북지대는 태항산에서 항일전투를 치르는 한편, 항일군가를 만들어 보급시키는 ‘군중창작활동’도 게을리하지 않았다. <연안송>에 이어 <팔로군행진곡>을 작곡해 저명인사가 된 정율성은 조선의용군의 활동을 묘사하는 노래를 창작하였다. 대원 김학철과 이화림 등은 항일전투로 희생된 동지들을 추모하는 내용의 <조선의용군추도가>나 황무지 개간하면서 전통민요를 개사한 <미나리(타령)>·<호메가> 등 노동요를 창작하였다. 일제의 패망 직전, 정율성은 만주를 거쳐 압록강을 건너 조국으로 나아가려는 조선의 용군의 기상을 행진곡풍으로 묘사한 <조국 향해 나가자>를 작사·작곡해 항일전쟁의 기백을 널리 떨치었다.

영문 초록

Founded on October 10, 1938 in Hankou, China, the Korean Volunteer Corps moved to Guirin due to the Japanese invasion and participated in the anti-Japanese front, while making and distributing anti-Japanese song for anti-Japanese education and cultural propaganda. Youn-seju, an official of the ‘Korea National Revolutionary Party’(民族革命黨) and a military instructor of the ‘Korean Volunteer Corps’(朝鮮 義勇隊), arranged the song “The Last Battle” to boost the morale of the military-trained members, and later became a symbol of anti-Japanese song. The song “Vanguard”, written and composed by Lee-dusan, a renowned anti-Japanese literary activist, was widely distributed in the military songbook of the ‘Korean Liberation Army’(光復軍). Headquarters of Korean Volunteer Corps in Guirin actively engaged in various cultural propaganda activities for Chinese party, government, and military officials as well as local residents. The performances of “Arirang” and “Daughter of choseon” prepared by the Cultural Propaganda group impressed the Chinese people. In addition, performances of songs such as “Japan Anti-War Song”, which were sung at the tea party and graduation ceremony of the Chinese military academy by inviting Japanese prisoners, were widely known through the Chinese media. In the process of moving from Guirin to Chongqing, the crew created a number of historical anti-Japanese song. Yi Du-san’s eldest son, Lee-jungho, released the song “On the Broad Land of China” in February 1940, which spread to Manchuria and North Korea. The Hwabuk area of Korean Volunteer Army’s, which entered Hwabuk amid the threat of China’s civil war, fought against Japan at Taihang Mountains, and was not lazy to create and distribute anti-Japanese military songs. Following Song of Yan’an, Jeong-Yulsong, who became a prominent figure by composing the March of Balujun Army(八路軍), created a song that describes the activities of the ‘Korean Volunteer Army’(朝鮮義勇軍). A small number of Kim Hakchoul and Lee Hwarim created labor songs such as “Requiem of the Korean Volunteer Army” and “Minari Taryeong”, “Homega”, which were reconstructed by recreating traditional folk songs in memory of comrades killed in the anti-Japanese war. Right before the collapse of Japan, Jeong Yul-seong wrote and composed “Let’s Go Towards Our Country,” which describes the spirit of the Korean Volunteer Army’s attempt to cross the Yalu River to his country through Manchuria, widely shaking the spirit of the anti-Japanese war.
