5∼6세기 신라 팔거리(八居里)의 지역 집단과 성

국문 초록

구암동고분군과 팔거산성이 위치한 대구 북구 구암동 일대는 신라 때 팔리현(八里縣, 본명 八居里縣)이었다. 본고에서는 5∼6세기 신라의 지방 거점 중에 고총 고분군에 석축 산성이 부가된 유형을 검토함으로써 이 시기 지역 집단의 성격과 성의 운영 방식에 대해서 논의하였다. 구(舊) 칠곡읍은 조선 후기 가산성에 설치된 칠곡도호부의 읍치가 내려온 곳으로 원래 팔거현이 있었던 곳이다. 팔거현은 신라 팔거리현-팔리현에서부터 이어져 조선 전기까지 경산부-성주목의 속현으로 존속하였다. 현 읍내동이 팔거현의 중심지가 된 것은 대체로 고려 이후이며, 그 전에는 구암동고분군과 팔거산성이 위치한 구암동 일대가 중심지였던 것으로 추정된다. 구암동고분군의 조성 연대는 5∼6세기로 파악되며, 같은 시기 그 아래에는 취락과 천변의 농경지가 있었고 그 중 어느 시점에 산성이 축조, 운영되어 하나의 지역 중심지를 형성한 것으로 보인다. 대구 지역에서 그 지점, 즉팔거리는 달구벌에 이은 2차 거점 중 하나로 파악할 수 있으며, 달구벌에서 일선(一善), 사벌(沙伐)로 이어지는 주요 교통로 상에 위치한다고 할 수 있다. 고분군은 다소 늦은 시점부터 갑자기 조성되기 시작하여 거기에 묻힌 지역 유력자들은 특정 시기에 다른 지역에서 이식된 것으로 파악되며, 출토 유물의 양식으로 보았을 때 상당히 ‘신라화’된 존재로 이해할 수 있다. 산 정상부의 현존 석축 산성은 대체로 6세기 중엽 이후에 축조된 것으로 보이지만, 같은 자리에 유사한 성격의 방어 시설이 일찍부터 존재했을 가능성이 있다. 산성은 지역의 자위적인 방어 시설이라기보다 일종의 전략적인 거점이었을 것이고, 지방관이 파견되지 않은 간접 지배 시기에는 결 국 지역 집단을 통해 운영되었을 것이다. 5세기 말 이후 지방관인 도사(道 使)가 파견된 뒤에는 그가 중심이 되어 성을 운영, 정비했을 것이고, 최근 성 내부 집수지에서 출토된 목간은 아직 본격적인 분석이 이루어지지 않았지만, 성이 군사, 행정적으로 중요하게 관리되었음을 보여주는 자료로 생각된다.

영문 초록

The area of Guam-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu, where Guam-dong tomb cluster and Palgeo hill fortress are located, was Pali (former name: Palgeori) during the Silla dynasty. This paper examined the type of local governing base which was composed of high-mound tombs and stone hill fortress and discussed the nature of local community and the operation of the fortress in the 5th and 6th centuries. Former Chilgok-eup was the town of Chilgok Protectorate, which was established in Kasan hill fortress in the latter half of the Joseon dynasty. Originally it was the place where Palgeo prefecture was. It was originated from Silla’s Pali prefecture, and continued as an affiliated prefecture of Gyeongsan-bu and Seongju-mok until the early Joseon dynasty. It is thought that the current Eupnae-dong became the center of Palgeo prefecture after Goryeo dynasty, and before that, the area where Guam-dong tomb cluster and Palgeo fill fortress are located, was the center. It was discovered that the tomb cluster was formed in the 5th to 6th centuries. At the same time, there was a village under it and a farmland on the riverside, and at a certain time, a hill fortress was was built and operated. These formed a center of one area. That place in the Daegu area can be defined as one of the secondary bases after Dalgubeol, and it was located on the main traffic route leading from Dalgubeol to Ilseon. Guam-dong tomb cluster began to be formed at a later date, indicating that local ruling people buried there were transplanted from other regions at a particular time, and that they were highly Sillaized by the style of excavated artifacts. Although the existing stone fortress at the top of the hill appears to have been built since the mid-6th century, it is highly likely that similar characteristic defense facility existed early in the same place. The fortress would have been a strategic base rather than a regional self-defense facility, and eventually operated through local community during the indirect local governing period. After the dispatch of a local official, Dosa, after the end of the 5th century, he would have operated and repaired the fortress. The wooden tablets recently excavated from the catchment pond in the fortress have not been fully analyzed yet, but it can be said that it is a document showing that the fortress was importantly managed military and administratively.
