장애아동 성교육 관련 연구의 동향 분석

국문 초록

장애아동을 위한 성교육은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구는 국내 장애아동 성교육에 대한 최근 10여 년 동안의 문헌들을 분석하여 장애아동 성교육에 대한 전반적인 연구 동향을 파악하고, 이를 바탕으로 장애아동 성교육 활성화를 위한 후속연구의 방향을 제언하고자 하였다.이를 위해 장애아동 성교육과 관련된 선행연구 총 17편이 선정되었으며, 선정된 논문들은 연구주제, 연구대상, 연구방법에 따라 분석되었다. 선행연구의 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성교육 관련 연구들은 성교육 현황, 성교육에 대한 요구, 성교육 프로그램의 개발과 평가라는 3가지 연구주제를 중심으로 이루어졌으나 성교육 프로그램의 개발과 평가의 연구는 상대적으로 그 수가 적었다. 둘째, 대부분의 연구들은 지적장애아동 혹은 그들의 교사와 부모를 대상으로 이루어져 다양한 장애아동을 대상으로 한 연구가 부족함을 나타냈다. 셋째, 성교육 관련 연구는 모두 양적연구로 조사연구와 실험연구로 이루어졌다. 본 연구결과에 근거하여 후속연구를 위한 몇 가지 제언이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

Although sexuality education is important to children with disabilities, there is relatively little research on sexuality education for this population. The purpose of the present study was to review Korean research on sexuality education for children with disabilities from 2000 through January 2011 and to suggest directions for future research in this area. Twelve studies involving sexuality education were analyzed in terms of research themes, participants, and research methods. The findings suggested that while the majority of the studies were categorized into two themes, current status of sexuality education and the needs of sexuality education, there is relatively few studies on the development and evaluation of sexuality education. In addition, most of the studies involved teachers and parents of children with intellectual disabilities. Finally, all of the studies employed quantitative research methods. Suggestions for future research to promote sexuality education for children with disabilities are discussed: (a) the development and evaluation of comprehensive sexuality education programs, (b)the need for research on sexuality education for teachers and parents, (c)additional research on children with different disabilities, and (d) the need for qualitative research on sexuality education.
