중도장애학생의 졸업 후 지역사회 전환에 따른 진로·직업 실태 및 교육효과 분석

국문 초록

우리나라 특수교육은 1980년대 이후 질적·양적 증대에 따라 많은 특수학교(급)의 졸업생들을 배출하였다. 몇 해 전까지만 해도 특수교육에서조차 소외되었던 중도장애학생들도 순회교육을 비롯한 다양한 특수교육 현장에 등장하였다. 이 연구의 목적은 지난 10년간의 중도장애졸업생의 진로실태가 어떤지를 파악하고, 투입된 특수교육의 효과를 분석하며, 향후 특수학교 교육과정 편성과 운영, 중도 성인장애인에 대한 진로·직업 정책을 수립하는데 방향성을 제시하고자 연구되었다. 연구방법은 추적조사이며, 연구 대상은 지난 10년간 H지체장애 특수학교의 중도장애졸업생 전체를 대상으로 한 전수조사이다. 연구결과 중도장애졸업생은 다른 장애졸업생들의 진로실태와는 비교가 안될 정도로 졸업 후 주거생활, 직장생활,여가생활, 지역사회생활 등에서 열악하게 생활하고 있으며, 진학 측면에서도 매우 낮은 진학률을 보였다. 따라서 중도장애학생에 대한 특수교육의 효과가 낮은 것으로 나타나 향후중도장애학생에 대한 진로·직업교육의 재검토와 중도 성인장애인에 대한 지역사회 및 국가에서의 맞춤식 진로·직업교육 등의 정책 수립이 요구됨을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

Korea s special education has seen both qualitative and quantitative growth since the 1980s and accordingly many students for whom special education was required have advanced into the society after receiving special education. Even students with severe disabilities, for whom special education was required but who were isolated from special education just a few years ago, are now witnessed on the spot of special education including itinerant education. This study aims to examine the realities of career and employment of graduates with severe disabilities for the past decade who need overall aid in their daily life and to verify the effects of special education input so far, thereby providing basic materials for organizing and managing educational courses in future special education and at the same time providing proper direction in establishing policies for careers and jobs of the adult disabled. This study is a follow-up, complete study; all the graduates from H special school for the past ten years were surveyed. The study result is that graduates with severe disabilities were under much poorer conditions after graduation than those with non-severe disabilities to an incomparable degree in terms of their work and leisure and their lives as a whole. Only two graduates with severe disabilities entered university among 84,showing very low ratio in getting a higher education. In this regard the outcomes of special education provided to students with severe disabilities are very poor and, in particular, transition on special education in career and vocational education is considered necessary. Therefore the findings suggest that review of career and vocational education is needed and local communities and the government should responsibly establish policies to cope with this issue.
