중도·중복장애아동의 자기결정권에 관한 현상학적 이해

국문 초록

본 연구는 현상학의 주요개념 즉, 판단중지, 생활세계, 상호주관성, 상호신체성 등에 근거하여 실제적 사례에 대한 반성적 고찰을 행함으로써 중도·중복장애아동에 있어서 자기결정의 개념 및 기본원리를 현상학적으로 이해하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이상의 목적을 달성하기 위해서 첫째, 특수교육분야에서 사용된 기존의 자기결정권의 개념과 모델 그리고 선행연구의 동향을 검토한 결과, 이들은 장애아동의 이성적-인지적 능력을 전제로 하고 있고 장애를 가지지 않은 아동의 기준과 잣대에 근거하고 있으며 자연과학의 객관적-합리적 세계관의 이념에 바탕을 두고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 중도·중복장애아동의 자기결정권에 대해 현상학적으로 접근하여 이해한 결과, 중도·중복장애아동 모두에게 동일하게 적용할 수 있는 자기결정권의 개념은 존재할 수 없으며 각 아동의 경험양식 및 실존에 따라, 그 아동과 관계하는 타자에 따라, 그리고 중도·중복장애아동과 타자 간의 관계방식에 따라 자기결정권의 개념은 달리 이해되고 적용되어야 함을 알 수 있었다. 즉, 중도·중복장애아동에게 있어 자기결정권이 무엇인지 해명하기 위해서는 그들의 경험양식 및 실존에 대한 이해가 선행되어야 하는데, 이는 중도·중복장애아동 그리고 그들과 관계하는 타자 간의 관계성 속에서 이루어질 수 있으며 쌍방 간의 상호주체적 관계 자체가 바로 중도·중복장애아동의 자기결정을 의미한다고 말할 수 있다. 이 때 신체는 중도·중복장애아동과 타자의 상호주체적 관계를 성립시키는 매개이자 대화를 위한 도구이며, 이와 같이 신체를 통한 관계형성은 중도중복장애아동의 고유하고 주관적인 자기결정권 그 자체임을 인식해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study is aiming at phenomenological understanding of the self-determination of severe and multiple handicapped children by reflective considering the case of severe and multiple handicapped children based on the phenomenological major concept and by discussion. In order to accomplish above purposes, first, according to the model or concept of self-determination for the special education area and the precedence research, they are premised on the rational-intellectual ability of severe and multiple handicapped children and based on the objective and reasonable viewpoint. Second, according to the phenomenological understanding about self-determination of severe and multiple handicapped children, there is no concept for self-determination which can be applied to every severe and multiple handicapped children equally. Moreover, we found that the concept of self-determination should be understood and applied based on the experience and existence of severe and multiple handicapped children, other people, and the relation between others and severe and multiple handicapped children. In other words, in order to understand the self-determination of severe and multiple handicapped children, one should know the experience and existence of severe and multiple handicapped children first, which means that self-determination can be performed in the relation between others and severe and multiple handicapped children, and the relation itself indicates the self-determination of severe and multiple handicapped children. A body is a medium which makes the mutual subjective relation between others and severe and multiple handicapped children. Likewise, one should recognize that the formation of the relation through the body is the inherent and subjective self-determination of severe and multiple handicapped children.
