원예 활동이 지체장애 아동의 자아 존중감, 행복감, 작업활동 평가에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 원예활동이 지체장애 아동의 자아 존중감, 행복감, 작업활동 평가에 미치는 효과를 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 현재 G시에 위치한 특수학교 초등부 2학년에 재학중인 6명의 아동으로 좌측 편마비(left hemiplegia)가 있는 남아, 여아 각각 1명이고, 경련성 양마비(spastic diplegia)가 있는 남아, 여아 각각 2명이었다. 선행연구에서 사용한 원예활동 중에서 대상 아동들의 선호 활동을 중심으로 매 회기 40분씩 총 22회기 실시했다. 원예활동 효과 측정 도구는 자아 존중감 척도(Rosenberg, 1965), 행복감 척도(Gelb, 1978), 원예 작업활동 평가표(Oseas, 1961)이었다. 자료는 자아 존중감 척도, 원예활동 평가의 사전검사와 사후검사 점수의 평균과 표준편차를 구하고, 매회기 중재 전후로 측정한 행복감 척도 점수의 평균과 표준편차를 구하여 paired t-test로 분석하였다. 원예활동의 효과를 검증한 결과, 연구대상 아동의 자아 존중감 척도, 행복감 척도, 원예 작업활동 평가의 향상 정도가 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 원예활동 평가 항목에서 대인관계, 욕구·충동적 적응력, 인지 및 문제해결 능력, 자아 개념 및 주체성이 사전과 사후 검사 점수 차이가 의미 있게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 원예활동이 지체장애아동의 자아 존중감과 행복감, 원예 작업활동 향상에 효과적임을 시사한다. 본 연구의 의의, 제한점, 후속연구 문제 등이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

The objective of this study was to examine the effect of horticultural activities on physically disabled children’s self-esteem, happiness, and horticultural activity evaluation. The subjects were six children including three boys and three girls at a special elementary school in G City. Of them, a boy and a girl had left hemiplegia, and two boys and two girls had spastic diplegia. Research instruments used in this study were self-esteem scale (Rosenberg, 1965) for measuring self-esteem, smile scale (Betsy Gelb,1978), and horticultural activity evaluation chart(Oseas, 1961) for measuring the respondent’s participation, working attitude, and interest, In data analysis, we obtained means and standard deviations from the results of the pretest and the posttest using the self-esteem scale, smile scale, and horticultural activity evaluation chart, and analyzed them through paired t-test. According to the results of examining the effect of horticultural activities, after the application of the horticultural activity program, statistically significant difference was observed in the disabled children’s self-esteem and smile, and statistically significant difference appeared also in the score of horticultural activity evaluation. Furthermore, difference between the pretest and posttest scores was large in interpersonal relation, desire-impulsive adaptability, cognitive and problem-solving abilities, self-concept, and self-identity. The results of this study suggest that the horticultural activity program used in this study may be useful in planning horticultural activities for enhancing physical disabled children’s self-esteem.
