영문 초록

This paper aims to examine aesthetic strategies frequently used in recent Korean novels about disasters. Despite its achievements, existing research has limitations in dealing with disasters only at the material level. To overcome these limitations, this paper seeks to extract specific aesthetic strategies and, based on them, to manifestly restore thought behind the text. As a result, the following facts were confirmed in detail: First, there is an attempt to invoke historical awareness as a “montage” by summoning historical facts of the past based on the typical text of Jung, Yujung as a medium of disaster. Second, Choi, Soochul s text is a representative example, and there is an attempt to expose the mechanism of “biological control power” in modern society and to reason for “melancholy” as a powerful way to resist it. Third, SF text such as DJUNA is the representative, Attempts exist to combine SF imagination with an allergic problem consciousness. These characteristics of recent disaster-based novels are significant in that they trigger a new perception of the potential disasters in our daily lives.
